Clara was walking down the street, following her phone's GPS.
"Turn left the next corner." it said. excitement bubbled through Clara as she thought of what had happened the previous day.
She was sitting on the chair, breathing heavily. The voice had just stopped, but it had left an unpleasant warmth inside Clara along with a consistent pain in her body. She was also sweating all over. Then she heard another voice, a sweeter one.
"Honey, are you alright?"
Clara opened her eyes. It was Mrs. Selby, her history teacher.
"Turn left the next corner." said the voice from GPS, bringing Clara back to present.
"stay in the present now." Clara told herself since she had nearly gone in the wrong direction. But Clara couldn't help remembering hoe worried Mrs. Selby had looked when Clara had told her about Coraline, saying Coraline was an excellent student and a good kid.
Clara<s university was combined with the college, where Coraline went. It was Coraline<s habit to have a good relationship with teachers. Too good of a relationship. Out of the classes, Clara sometimes saw her sister talking to teachers as though they were her friends. Mrs.Selby was one of those teachers. Clara had reassured her the Coraline was alright. After that, the professor had asked if she could borrow Clara's phone, saying she had to make a call but her phone's battery was dead. After the call, when Clara had gotten back her phone, she had noticed something in the case she didn't remember putting in. It was a cream colored card with an message on the back.
"We know about the voice" it said. Nothing else. No name. No initials. Just an address. To where, She had no Idea. But she was curious. Curious about how a random massage got in her phone case, telling her that someone was out there who knew about the voice. So, She was going to the address.
"Turn right The next corner." Said the GPS. Environment was going weird. Now, Clara was walking through shabby streets.
As she walked, her mind drifted somewhere else again. As she recalled the sterile, white hallways of the hospital from earlier that morning. She could still feel the phantom 'electric shock' of locking eyes with that famous man—Sterling Vance. He had looked so broken, so lost, and for a split second, the coldness radiating off him had actually soothed the strange warmth burning under her skin.
"You have reached your destination" said the google voice, bringing her back to reality.
It was an old shop, with an old sign hanging on it. The letters were faded but Clara could just make out the words "Arthur and Samantha's antiques".
The door to the shop was an old wooden one. Clara placed her hand on the door knob, ready to open, when suddenly, Clara felt goosebumps.
"Um, hello?" Said a voice from behind her awkwardly. "Are you here looking for antiques?"
It was a girl, nearly the same age as Clara. But she was way taller, with muscular arms, blond hair and eyes that looked like they had cried for hours.
"Not exactly " said Clara.
"Oh!" Said the girl sounding surprised, but Clara noticed she didn't seem that surprised. "Ok."
"So... Wanna go inside first?" Asked Clara, unsure.
"No, you can go first." Said the girl, sounding as nervous as Clara felt. Slowly, Clara opened the door.
