There’s a temptation when I write, one that is hard to either ignore or combat, to push my imaginary vision of the future further and further out as I go along. To satisfy that compelling urge, I’m revisiting my science fictional universe and moving forward with my history of the Nexima Federation.

I’m also someone who seems to write more consistently when I have two stories on the go at the same time. This seems contradictory to many, but I find that switching from one narrative to a completely different one when I’m blocked is a big help. Both stories come together quicker and, hopefully, better. When you are mostly doing your own editing, it’s also really good to rest from one novel when revising another.

When I wrote Hard-wired for Love, beginning very slowly and carefully, I had no idea that the series would keep growing. Another Horizon was already partly in my head before the first novel was finished and the same was true for Another World.

Now, I’m back at it again with this, my latest addition to the growing series. Another Star takes us further out into the galaxy than ever before, but features some characters from the previous volume, most notably, many of the AIs are still about, as well as many new faces and entities.

Of course, I’d recommend that you read the other volumes first, preferably in the order that they are written, but I don’t think it is essential to get something from this new volume. If you don’t have the time to read the other volumes and in the hope that I can make this easier for the uninitiated, I’m including a timeline of this imaginary future history in this volume.
