The Lost Star

Chapter 11: Center and Face of the Group

Chapter 11: Center and Face of the Group

Apr 05, 2026

Third-Person POV:

'Hmm... Center? This position is quite important for the initial debut, but not so much for the long-term, because the center position always changes according to the song's genre and concept.

That means we have to choose a center now, and then most likely it will be changed once the group's concept is revealed. But, I feel like Kira-chan could carry our group...'

He thought of Kira, the main center for group 7(Eve) in his previous world. Kira held both the main center and main vocalist positions at that time.

Sunwon saw what Kira had as a main center and how much effort that kid put in back then to try to be the best center for their group.

'Well... because 7GXU and 7(Eve) were rivals... We didn't debut in the same year, but because the group 7(Eve) had Mikan, Kira, Byeol-Jin, and Junseo, who were former contestants from the same survival show as 7GXU.

And our groups were always compared to see who was better... It put on a lot of high pressure back then...
Ergh, I don’t want to remember those dark two years for all of us. It was so bad at that time...'

Sunwon shook his head to cast those thoughts of his past aside and focused on his task regarding the center position.

'Adam seems suitable to be the center too. He has the face and talent that stand out... Tsutaya and Ezra are the same... Hmm... this is hard.' If he could, he’d be scratching his head right now, even though it wasn't itchy.

Ha, too many things had happened on the day he arrived. It hadn't even been a full day yet, but Sunwon already wanted to jump off again. What a fate~

The "Prince of Stage" glanced over to see the state of his group members, and it only made him want to look deadpanned—or something. The situation in front of him right now was quite funny if not for the fact that he was a part of it.

It was like being in an exam hall, answering a vital exam that determined your life and death. Ezra’s face looked so serious and pale as he stared at the paper as if it could give him the answer.

Sunwon chuckled, amused; it seemed Ezra wasn't as robotic as he had expected.

'...If not for Luna’s warning earlier... I wouldn't have thought twice about who to choose as the center for our group.

I always get a gut feeling that tells me which one is good or bad, and I know who is more perfect... Sigh...' Ezra continued to slump against the wall, looking as if his soul had left his body.

He might be a hardcore fan of Sunwon, but he knew how to choose fairly; despite that, he could only see Kim Sunwon as the one who could lead their group to the top.

Everyone saw what he had. Ezra was sure the others would also choose the same person.

Junseo, meanwhile, looked like he was pulling his hair out in frustration as if he wanted to rip it all off. Tsutaya and Kira were in deep thought, while Byeol-Jin and Adam were just relaxed while writing their answers—especially Adam, with his nonchalant attitude and a smirk that, for some reason, made Junseo feel annoyed.

'For some reason, I feel like he’s mocking me...' Junseo thought with one eyebrow raised slightly.

"Okay~ Time's up!"

"EH?! Wait!" shrieked Tsutaya and Junseo, frantically writing their answers before nodding their heads as if satisfied with the paper containing their choices.

"Relax, you guys... This isn't an exam, is it?" Man Won said while sweat-dropping slightly.

Kira and Ezra blushed at the remark and immediately looked elsewhere.

Luna and Man Won promptly went to the corner of the room to look at the results for each position for their first idol group.

Both of their faces looked serious as they scrutinized each paper carefully and diligently. As soon as they finished reviewing all the papers, the two of them began to whisper before looking back at the boys and resuming their discussion.

Everyone began to feel nervous, even if they didn't show it on their faces; it could be seen in their eyes and body movements.

Even Sunwon himself suddenly felt anxious for some reason. He told himself he didn't care what position he got.
Even if he didn't get his original position from before, he was okay with it.

Back then, he was very confident in his talent, especially his voice and the various facial expressions he could produce so easily, receiving many praises from seniors and professionals.

But now, Sunwon didn't feel like himself anymore. He had been aware of that since he joined the survival show and subsequently debuted with 7GXU.

Sunwon could see that he was losing himself more every day until all the 7GXU members realized it and helped him, stayed by his side, and tried their best to understand him so they could help when he was down.

Maybe that was why Sunwon couldn't bring himself to hate them? After all, they were the ones who understood him better than anyone else, even more than his own mother.

They were considered the second group of people who knew him after his sister. But that was what made him feel so puzzled and disappointed—why? When he needed them the most... why did they leave him?

Why?

Sunwon shook his head to clear the thought. He didn't want to remember the past now, not now. He needed to focus on his debut with all of them. Then, he would think about all of that later.

'Are you sure they won't leave you as your old group members did?' The foreign voice in his mind returned, startling him.

Sunwon gulped hard and then gripped both his hands tightly, leaving crescent marks on his pale palms. He didn't like that voice. The longer it went on, the louder the voice became.

"Ehem!" Sunwon flinched but immediately composed himself and glanced around to make sure no one saw.
He let out a small sigh of relief, seeing that no one noticed because right now, everyone was focusing on Luna and Man Won.

"I will announce the respective positions. For the leader, I will hand this position to Park Byeol-Jin-ssi," Luna said with an easy smile.

The dark-blue-haired boy was a bit shocked and felt a lack of confidence in whether he could lead his group later. 'Am I worthy?' he wondered.

The responsibility of being a leader was very heavy. He dearly loved all his members now, even though there were some he wasn't close to, but he was very comfortable with all of them and had begun to consider them as family.

So, if something bad happened to them because he didn't lead properly... He wouldn't be able to show his face to them again.

But that thought vanished when he saw his group members clapping their hands and looking happy for him, as if they were relieved and glad that he was the one becoming the leader of their group.

It meant they trusted him. Believed in him. That left him speechless.

"Even though the leader is supposed to lead the group, ensuring it's always in harmony and doesn't get into trouble...

I just want to remind you of one thing: you can come to Luna, me, or any staff you trust and feel comfortable enough with to ask for help.

We, as a team, have to help each other when one of us is in trouble. We are all one family after all..." Man Won said with a smile that this time looked truly genuine.

Many higher-ups say that—we are one team, one family, need to share problems—but instead, they use them as products to make money.

But hearing it from Man Won's mouth, for some reason, it sounded very sincere and as if he meant it.
Byeol-Jin was at a loss for words before he smiled slightly with a gaze full of gratitude and relief. He nodded his head before he turned to bow to all of them.

"From now on, I, Park Byeol-Jin, am the leader for our group. I will ensure every member is safe and always given help when in difficulty.

Please correct me if I do something wrong..."

"Of course, Byeol-Jin-hyung! We won't hesitate to ask for your help!" Junseo claimed with an easy smile.

"I hope it's not asking for help to accompany you to the toilet in the middle of the night..." Kira commented while rolling his eyes. Junseo glared hard at him.

"I'm not a 5-year-old kid anymore!"

"Yeah, yeah..."

"Enough, you two, or I'll give you overtime tasks later." Luna's threat made the two of them stop bickering before they puffed their cheeks in dissatisfaction.

Sunwon chuckled softly, but his eyes looked sad because he remembered his 7GXU leader. The youngest leader who was the first in the K-pop industry.

He still remembered how bad his group leader's condition was at the beginning of their debut, and even after 5 years, there were still those who lacked confidence in his position as a leader.

'Cih, when I think back on it, it makes me so angry. What do they know? They don't know how hard it was—

.... Sigh... I'm thinking about them again...', Sunwon thought while gritting his teeth hard in frustration.

"For the center..."

Sunwon refocused on Luna to find out who the center for their group was... and to stop thinking about his old group members again.

"The center is Kim Sunwon-ssi! Congratulations!"

Thump!

'What?' Sunwon felt his heart stop for a second as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard. 'I'm the center?'

Kim Sunwon was a top idol from a famous K-pop boy group after five years of debut. However, all that success was ruined due to a scandal that involved him. He decided to end his life after being abandoned by his own group members, his own family, his company, and the fans. All his efforts had done nothing to change the situation.

He looked upon the spring night view for the last time from the top of his company's old building. Stars illuminated the sky, and cherry blossoms and petals fluttered in the gentle breeze. The scene was truly stunning.

The moon was absent, but the stars were still bright in the sky. He hoped he could be one of those stars. With a relieved smile and gaze, he tried to let his body fall forward from the edge of the building's top before a girl's voice startled him.

"Do you believe in second chances?"

"???"

A mysterious girl appeared with the moon as her background, offering Sunwon a second chance to start over. To return to the past, but in another world, debuting with different group members and a different company.

Sunwon didn't want to be an idol anymore; he didn't want to be a star anymore, but due to intense curiosity and the desire to see if his new group members would also abandon him like his previous group, he agreed.

"Hehe! My name is Luna! Happy to be dealing with you, Kim Sunwon!"

'Wait-! We're going to jump!?'

When he thought he had died, he realized he was back in the past before debuting as an idol. Sunwon met the future members of the group he would debut with in a few months and all the people in this unknown company.

Can Sunwon ever trust people again? Will the same thing happen? Will he not be abandoned, and... Who is Luna, really? Why did she suddenly appear and give Sunwon a second chance?
