Third-Person POV:
A night in the city of Seoul,
People seemed busy with their own affairs. Some were seen just returning from work, from cram school, or hanging out with friends at a café or somewhere to relieve stress.
At that time, several people were following the developments of a major scandal that had broken out two weeks ago.
Some were watching on the large screen TV in a tall, big building, and others were looking at their smartphones.
Suddenly, all their faces looked shocked and gasped out loud, causing several people who were only focused on walking home or to their destination to stop.
They all grew curious and then pulled out their own smartphones, wanting to see what news could have shocked them like this. Many people have also stopped in front of the large TV screen to watch.
At the same time, in a café,
Two high school girls were seen whispering something to each other, yet the person next to them could still hear and was only quiet, sitting there like a doll while writing something in the book.
"The Kim Sunwon scandal isn't true. Someone is framing him... I heard that person really hates Kim Sunwon-ssi."
"I told you it's impossible for Kim Sunwon-oppa to do that... His heart is too soft..."
"Huh? Didn't you also stop being his fan and boycott him before this?"
The girl with a ponytail was startled and immediately looked down, feeling ashamed and regretful. Her blonde-haired friend only let out a tired sigh and shook her head.
"...Hasn't it been dragging on for two weeks now? Do you think... he won't do anything crazy, right?" the blonde girl asked, staring at the TV in the café, which was broadcasting news about the Kim Sunwon scandal.
" Gasp! No! I'm sure he'll be okay! He... He will be okay..." The ponytail girl looked like she wanted to cry after realizing how uncertain her tone was just now.
"...You used to know him best as a fan before, didn't you? Are you sure... he'll be okay?"
"..."
"...I heard a rumor that even his group members abandoned him. Not just his company, but his own family abandoned him too... If I were in his place..."
"..."
"...I wouldn't be able to bear it all for so long after all my effort to clear my name and try to explain to people."
"...Yunni... Hiks ... I should have listened to your advice before... Hiks ... I was so blind that I didn't even try to give him a chance..."
"..."
The blonde girl said nothing, just staring at her friend, and then she hugged her best friend, letting her cry silently while gently stroking her back.
Another girl in a hoodie who's been sitting beside them the whole time overheard what the two high schoolers were saying.
She then smiled mysteriously before getting up and leaving the café.
"...He must be there now..." the mysterious girl muttered to herself, with cherry blossom petals fluttering around at night, indicating a storm was coming today.
Skip...
On a tall building,
A young man was standing on the edge of the top of the building. His baggy white hoodie gently billowed as the spring night wind passed, as did his cocoa-colored hair.
This building was originally his company's building before they moved to a larger one.
For five years, he had spent all his time and life for this company, for his group members, for his fans who accepted him as he was and always fought for him.
Now, just because of the scandal, they all turned their backs on him. He never expected all this.
He knew his company might turn away and not try to help him, and as for the fans, even if they were his fans, it didn't mean fans knew him better than his own group members.
But that made him more depressed, disappointed, and hurt when the response of his group members to this scandal was unexpected.
Those who had been with him even since debut until now.
They all cried together so many times, shared the same breath in the same space, practiced until they collapsed, laughing at silly pranks on each other, and were always there to comfort each other.
Those who knew him better than his own fans, the company, and even his own mother.
Now, they all didn't give him a chance to explain what exactly happened, didn't listen to him when he tried to talk, didn't defend him...Leaving him alone to fight all of this by himself, to prove that he was innocent.
'...Why?' He wanted to ask his group members, whom he had considered his own family. He's so desperate to know, 'why' they all turned them back on him, not believing in him?
All his group members had given him comfort and warmth before; now, only coldness remained. Even though he still tried to explain, he never got it, and so, he's giving up because what was the point? When they wouldn't even try to listen to him.
They wouldn't try to understand him or wouldn't try to think twice, just immediately jumped to the conclusion that he was guilty, like a criminal for a serious crime.
'...Well, at least they didn't kick me out of the dorm, but... I don't feel like I can continue living there. It's so cold and lonely while waiting for someone to reach out a hand to help me. But no one came...
They confined me, didn't allow me to leave the house... Our house, which was originally a safe and warm place before, now feels like it's trying to choke me, and it feels more like a prison. I can't last any longer...
I managed to succeed this far because of my fans and my group members. Though what still shocked and hurt me the most was when my own mother didn't want to consider me her son anymore and never let me step in the house...
Seriously... why didn't any of you think this case was a bit strange? I wasn't detained by the police because there was no solid evidence, but you still believe the scandal over me...
Did my existence really hold no meaning for you? Were all the loving words, warm touches, and overprotective attitudes towards me all this time just fake?', thought Sunwon, feeling so hopeless and flagging.
He then bit his lip hard until it bled, and tears started welling up. And, suddenly, he let out a small laugh, a dry and empty laugh.
When he thought back to all these situations and the day he started as a trainee and debuted as an idol now, he felt his life was rather ridiculous. Such a joke.
'... God, I don't even remember why, in the first place, I wanted to become an idol... Why did I choose to be an idol?' he thought bitterly.
"...Am I getting more forgetful now?" he whispered sarcastically.
'... Am I really that naive to quickly trust people... Thinking they would defend me... would stay with me...
Kim Sunwon... you're truly foolish... This has not the first time happened. You should f*cking learn that.'
He lifted his head slightly to look at the night view for the last time with an unreadable expression.
Stars filled the sky, shining beautifully and elegantly. The sky looked like a galaxy. The moon was not visible, yet the sky remained bright because of the stars, with cherry blossoms fluttering in the air.
Below him, the lights from vehicle lamps, streetlights, and buildings made the scene look like an ocean with all those lights with different colors.
This scene was too stunning, like something out of a fantasy world.
He thought maybe he was going crazy or if the night view was always this way? Why did he never notice this before?
The wind passed again, causing his front bangs to sway this time, revealing a pair of hazel-brown eyes that were dull, with no glimmering light, as if the will to live had been gone.
He smiled slightly, bitterly, looking at one star that caught his attention.
Sunwon hoped he could be a star like that. Continuing to shine and be free up there without worrying about people's opinions anymore. No longer needing to feel the burden of being a star for someone.
'...Speaking of stars... Everyone, even my group members, always said I was their star. Hahaha, it's funny seeing the star they admired so much finally disappear from their lives forever.
This is better though... My group's reputation will recover, my mother will feel relieved that the child who embarrassed her is finally gone... Everyone will also forget me as time passes, like a star that disappears the next day...
I'm tired too... Please forgive me... to those who are still trying to help me and believe in me... but I think you understand why I'm doing this,' he thought again with a soft but sorrowful smile.
He was just about to step forward, only one more step to gain his freedom, but his step halted, and he fell backward instead, losing his balance when a voice was heard close to his ear, startling him.
"Do you believe in second chances?"
"Ah! What the hell... Huh?"
A girl, looking to be about the same age as him, was standing where he was just moments ago. Her face was not visible due to the hood on her head, but Sunwon could still see strands of silver-white hair fluttering as the wind passed.
His breath hitched in his throat and his eyes widened when he saw a pair of heterochromia eyes: the left a soft lilac purple, and the right a dark, deep blue like the night.
"Kim Sunwon-ssi... Do you believe in second chances?"
