Elyndor: eyes of the unseen

The First Move

The First Move

Apr 12, 2026

The streets of the village were alive again.

Vendors called out to passing customers.
Children ran between narrow paths.
Life had returned…

But not for them.

Three figures moved steadily through the crowd—silent, focused.

Vihaan led the way.

Eryx walked beside him, glancing around with mild curiosity.

Liorin followed, her eyes observant as always.

After a few moments—

Eryx broke the silence.

Eryx:
“So… where exactly are we going?”

Vihaan didn’t slow down.

Vihaan:
“To Intelligence Commander Ronen.”

Eryx blinked.

Eryx:
“…Ronen? The one who hates Commander Smith?”

Vihaan nodded slightly.

Vihaan:
“That’s the one.”

Liorin spoke calmly from behind.

Liorin:
“Shouldn’t we meet Master Valen first?”

For a brief moment—

Vihaan’s steps slowed.

Just slightly.

Then—

He continued walking.

Vihaan:
“No.”

A pause.

His voice lowered.

Vihaan:
“Not until we save him.”

Eryx scratched his head, clearly confused.

Eryx:
“…This is getting complicated.”

Liorin, however—

Smiled faintly.

She understood.

Eryx looked at her, frustrated.

Eryx:
“Why are you smiling?!”

She didn’t answer.

---

Inside the Intelligence Office

The room was quiet.

Too quiet.

Papers were scattered across a large wooden table.

Half-eaten snacks lay forgotten beside them.

Smoke curled lazily in the air.

At the center—

Sat a man.

Heavy build.

Large moustache.

Relaxed posture.

A chillem rested in his hand as he read through documents like nothing in the world could disturb him.

Then—

The door creaked open.

A voice followed.

“Commander Ronen.”

The man didn’t react immediately.

He took one slow puff.

Then looked up.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Ronen:
“Team 111… am I right?”

The trio stepped inside.

Vihaan spoke calmly.

Vihaan:
“Yes. That’s correct.”

Ronen leaned back in his chair.

A smirk formed.

Ronen:
“So… what brings you here?”
“To get a new commander?”

He laughed at his own joke.

Loud.

Unbothered.

Eryx blinked.

“…I don’t like him already.”

Vihaan remained composed.

Vihaan:
“No. We’re here to make your work easier.”

Ronen stopped laughing.

Slowly—

He stood up.

His large frame casting a shadow across the table.

Ronen:
“My work… easier?”

Vihaan stepped forward slightly.

Vihaan:
“We have information about Commander Smith.”

The air shifted.

Ronen’s eyes sharpened.

Ronen:
“About Smith?”
“So you knowingly betrayed him?”

A small silence.

Then—

Vihaan:
“Yes.”

Eryx instantly grabbed his arm and pulled him closer.

Eryx (whispering):
“What are you doing?!”

Liorin pinched Eryx lightly.

He froze.

Blinking.

Then corrected himself awkwardly—

Eryx:
“I mean… why are you saying that?! He can kill us for that!”

Vihaan didn’t even look at him.

His eyes stayed locked on Ronen.

Vihaan:
“No… he won’t.”

A pause.

Then calmly—

Vihaan:
“He hates Smith. Am I right?”

Ronen hesitated.

Just for a second.

Then looked away.

Ronen:
“…Yes.”
“…Yes, you’re right.”

But his tone wasn’t fully confident.

---

Ronen folded his arms.

Ronen:
“I hate him… but I hate betrayers even more.”
“Why did you betray him?”

Liorin stepped forward this time.

Her voice calm.

Sharp.

Liorin:
“Why does that matter?”
“What matters… is what we’re about to tell you.”

Ronen’s eyes narrowed.

Ronen:
“Everything matters here, child.”

Vihaan spoke again—

Cool. Controlled.

Vihaan:
“Then hand us over to the guards.”

A pause.

Vihaan:
“I’m sure our betrayal matters more than Smith’s.”

Silence.

Ronen stared at him.

Measuring.

Thinking.

Then—

He exhaled.

Ronen:
“…Fine.”
“I won’t hand you over.”

He stepped closer.

Ronen:
“Now talk.”

Vihaan nodded.

But raised one condition.

Vihaan:
“First—this stays between us.”

Ronen smirked slightly.

Ronen:
“Bold.”
“…Alright. But this is your first and last condition.”

Vihaan:
“Perfect.”

---

The Lie That Starts the Game

Vihaan stepped forward.

His voice steady.

Carefully crafted.

Vihaan:
“Commander Ronen… Smith’s loyal soldiers have already made their move.”

Ronen’s expression changed instantly.

Ronen:
“What move?”

Vihaan:
“They are planning to attack the prison… and help him escape.”

A pause.

Ronen:
“And how do you know this?”

Vihaan didn’t hesitate.

Vihaan:
“Because… they still consider us loyal to Smith.”

Ronen’s mind began working.

Fast.

Ronen:
“If that’s true… we increase prison security.”

Vihaan shook his head slowly.

Vihaan:
“This isn’t five or ten soldiers.”

A beat.

Vihaan:
“It could be a hundred.”
“…Five hundred.”
“…Or even a thousand.”

The room went still.

Liorin added calmly—

Liorin:
“So… are you going to deploy the entire army?”

Ronen’s expression stiffened.

Then—

He waved his hand dismissively.

Ronen:
“Noooo.”

But the hesitation was there.

Clear.

Visible.

---
Vihaan stepped closer.

His gaze steady.

Unshaken.

Vihaan:
“Smith is far more popular than you, Commander Ronen.”

The words landed heavy.

Ronen’s expression stiffened.

Vihaan didn’t stop.

Vihaan:
“And that is exactly why… you were made Intelligence Commander.”
“Not Army Commander.”

A sharp silence filled the room.

Eryx glanced at Vihaan, slightly nervous now.

But Liorin—

She stepped forward smoothly.

Her voice calm.

Precise.

Liorin:
“And this…”
“…is the moment where you can change that.”

Ronen’s eyes slowly shifted toward her.

Liorin (continuing):
“This is your chance to show everyone—”
“…what real power looks like.”

A pause.

Then softly—

Liorin:
“To make Smith realize… who truly holds control.”

Ronen’s breathing changed.

Slower.

Heavier.

His ego had been touched.

Exactly where it mattered.

Then—

A grin slowly spread across his face.

Ronen:
“…You’re right.”

He nodded.

Once.

Then again.

Stronger.

Ronen:
“You’re right!”

He began pacing slightly.

Excitement rising.

Ronen:
“I can’t let him escape.”
“I can’t let him survive.”

Liorin’s eyes remained cold.

Controlled.

Liorin:
“Yes.”
“You can’t.”

Ronen stopped.

Turned toward them.

Now fully invested.

Ronen:
“Then tell me…”
“…what should I do?"

---

Vihaan took a slow step forward.

His voice lowered—controlled, deliberate.

Vihaan:
“Alright… if you want—”
“…I have a plan.”

Ronen’s eyes lit up instantly.

He leaned forward, almost eagerly.

Ronen:
“Yes.”
“Yes, I want.”

A faint pause.

Vihaan met his gaze.

Vihaan:
“Then shift Smith.”

Ronen frowned slightly.

Vihaan (continuing):
“From the Central Command prison… to the Northern Command prison.”

The room fell quiet.

Ronen’s brows pulled together.

Ronen:
“…Silently?”

Vihaan:
“Yes.”
“Through the forest route.”

A beat.

Ronen tilted his head.

Ronen:
“Forest?”
“Why the forest?”

Vihaan didn’t hesitate.

Vihaan:
“Because it’s the most deserted path.”
“No witnesses.”
“No leaks.”

A slow realization formed on Ronen’s face.

Then—

A grin.

Ronen:
“…Perfect.”

Eryx stepped in casually, folding his arms.

Eryx:
“And don’t send too many soldiers.”
“It’ll just make things easier for—”

He stopped.

A second too late.

Ronen’s eyes snapped toward him.

Ronen:
“…Easier for what?”

A brief silence.

Then—

Vihaan spoke instantly.

Smooth.

Unshaken.

Vihaan:
“He means it’ll draw attention.”
“More soldiers… more visibility.”

Liorin added calmly—

Liorin:
“And if this shift is exposed…”
“…your plan fails before it even begins.”

Ronen held their gaze for a moment.

Measuring.

Then—

He nodded.

Ronen:
“…Fine.”

A small smirk returned.

Ronen:
“I’ll keep it minimal.”

Vihaan gave a slight nod.

Vihaan:
“Good.”
“Then we should move.”

Without another word—

The trio turned.

And walked out.

The door closed behind them.

—

Inside the room—

Silence lingered for a second.

Then—

Ronen let out a low chuckle.

He rubbed his hands together slowly.

A satisfied grin spreading across his face.

Ronen (muttering):
“…Poor Smith.”

A pause.

His eyes darkened slightly.

Ronen:
“No one can save you now.”

—Scene changes

The forest stood silent.

Dense. Watchful.

High above, hidden among the branches—

Three figures waited.

Still.

Patient.

Below—

A faint sound broke the silence.

Creak…

A cart moved slowly along the narrow forest path.

Iron bars locked tightly around it.

Four soldiers surrounded it—

Alert.

Armed.

Unaware.

—

A breath.

A signal.

—

THWIP.

An arrow tore through the air.

Precise.

Unseen.

—

It struck.

The driver’s body jerked—

Then collapsed lifelessly.

The cart slowed.

—

Above—

Liorin’s eyes didn’t move.

She gave a slight signal.

—

Then—

THWIP. THWIP. THWIP.

A rain of arrows followed.

Controlled.

Targeted.

Not to kill—

But to scatter.

—

The soldiers broke formation instantly—

Moving away from the cart.

Trying to locate the unseen threat.

—

That was the opening.

—

Vihaan moved.

A silent drop from above—

He landed on the cart in one fluid motion.

Pulled the dead driver aside—

Took control—

And drove it forward.

—

“Stop him!”

One soldier charged toward the cart—

—

THWIP.

An arrow pierced through him.

He dropped before reaching it.

—

Another soldier leapt forward—

—

But—

A shadow dropped from above.

—

Eryx.

—

BAM.

A perfect kick.

The impact sent the soldier flying—

He slammed hard against a tree trunk.

Fell.

Still.

—

Another arrow followed.

Clean.

Final.

—

Eryx didn’t stop.

He turned instantly—

Moving toward the third soldier.

—

But—

The fourth…

Was gone.

—

Above—

Liorin’s bow was already drawn.

Her eyes scanned.

Tracking.

Calculating.

—

Then—

A shift.

Behind her.

—

The fourth soldier.

Silent.

Closing in.

—

Liorin noticed.

But—

She didn’t react.

—

Instead—

She released.

THWIP.

—

The arrow flew—not toward him—

But toward the battlefield below.

—

Creating an opening.

—

Eryx saw it.

Didn’t hesitate.

—

He stepped in—

Sword flashed—

—

A final strike.

—

The third soldier fell.

—

At the same instant—

Above—

The fourth soldier lunged toward Liorin.

Blade ready.

—

Too late.

—

Liorin moved.

—

She dropped.

—

Mid-air—

Her body flipped gracefully.

Controlled.

Precise.

—

Her bow shifted position—

—

THWIP.

—

The arrow shot upward—

—

And struck.

—

The soldier froze mid-motion—

Then fell.

Crashing through branches.

—

Liorin landed.

Rolled once—

Then rose smoothly to her feet.

Balanced.

Unshaken.

—

Silence returned.

—

Eryx glanced around.

Then smirked slightly.

Eryx:
“…This—”
“—is the difference between normal… and Missionary soldiers.”

Liorin didn’t respond.

—

Instead—

Both of them turned.

And ran toward the cart.

—

The mission—

Was just beginning.

---

The cart rolled forward—

Unstable.

Fast.

—

Eryx leapt onto it.

Liorin followed.

—

CLANG.

A hard strike from the sword’s handle—

The lock shattered.

The metal gate swung open.

—

Inside—

Commander Smith lay still.

Unmoving.

—

Eryx frowned.

Eryx:
“They’ve stunned him.”

Liorin didn’t waste a second.

Liorin:
“Then leave him like that.”
“He’ll only slow us down if he wakes now.”

—

Suddenly—

THWIP.

An arrow tore through the air—

—

CRACK.

It struck the wheel.

Shattering it.

—

The cart jerked violently—

Then stopped.

—

Before they could react—

THWIP. THWIP. THWIP.

Arrows rained from all directions.

Precise.

Relentless.

—

Then—

Silence.

Complete.

Unnatural.

—

Liorin’s eyes moved instantly.

Scanning.

Calculating.

Every angle.

Every shadow.

—

Nothing.

—

No visible enemy.

—

Vihaan moved fast.

He cut the harness—

Pulled the horse free from the broken cart.

—

Behind him—

Eryx lifted Smith onto his shoulders.

Then up onto the horse.

—

Movements clean.

Efficient.

Practiced.

—

Liorin still hadn’t moved.

Her gaze remained sharp.

Searching for the unseen threat.

—

Nothing.

—

That was the problem.

—

Vihaan stepped beside her.

Vihaan (low voice):
“This is controlled chaos.”

Liorin nodded slightly.

Liorin:
“Stay alert.”

—

They mounted.

The horse surged forward—

Breaking through the silent path.

—

For a moment—

It felt like escape.

—

Then—

A shadow dropped from above.

—

Vihaan reacted instantly.

He pulled the reins hard.

The horse stopped sharply—

Dust rising beneath its hooves.

—

The figure landed ahead of them.

Calm.

Effortless.

Unshaken.

—

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Pressing.

—

The man straightened slowly.

A faint trail of smoke curled upward—

From the cigarette between his fingers.

—

His presence alone—

Changed the air.

—

Kael.

—

Calm.

Precise.

Deadly.

The hunt—
Had just begun.
