I couldn't help but look at her while she slept. She looked so innocent and cute, and the way the light from the window hit her face just made her look even prettier. Her lashes were long, and glistened in the sun. And she had slightly flushed cheeks, which made me think I just wanted to continue looking at her like this.
Looking at her hug me, I couldn't help but smile, I'm hoplessly in love with her. Though I remembered what she said before, and that shifted my smile slightly.
I then try to pat her back, but wince in pain. When I looked at my hand, it was fully bandaged till my elbow, and through the gaps, it had a dark appearance. Taking off the bandage, my entire hand and forearm was black, charred, and in some parts, they had no skin, just burnt muscle. It had these wells, that looked like craters or valleys that ran through the entirety. Some lines also ran past my elbow, and even reached my shoulder, looking like vines growing on an old wall.
"You can look now."
They then stop looking away.
Right behind her, Reigna was looking at me with an annoyed, disfigured look.
"That's right brat. You made me waste my mana on you, so now, I'm forced to stay here in this country side village." She muttered under her breath, though I could hear her, even from a distance
"Lili! I'm so glad you're safe!" She said while sobbing.
Her sobs eventually grew louder, turning into a full on ugly cry, her tears wetting my clothes and her glasses.
"I'm sorry Lilia..." I say, rubbing her back with my right hand.
Lize joined in on the hug, sometimes glancing at Reiss with an angry look. Reiss himself just looked at us while tears welled up in his eyes. He seems to be regretful, because it was him who told me to come with Charllem. But I don't hate him for it, since if I wasn't there, Charllem would've faced that Lich alone, and unlike me, she can't exactly fly or run on air. Though Reiss does have a black eye, and a bruised jaw. Lize must've done that. Hang in there bud.
"Let's go have some breakfast, shall we?" Lize said, wiping a tear.

After breakfast, despite my family's objection, I decided to jog. So instead, Sylpha told me to go buy some buffalo meat from the butcher since we were running low on it. Buffalo meat, I wonder if Sylpha is cooking red buffalo stew tonight? However, Charllem is following me, for some reason. I seriously don't know why she's running with me. Perhaps she's worried about my health, and is running with me in the event something might happen to me, or maybe she just really wants to run as well? Whatever I guess... i'm just happy a cute girl like her is running with me.
"Hey Lilinet... Is Reigna bothering you sometimes?"
"What do you mean?"
We then stop for a moment in the middle of the road, having to go to the side because a wagon carrying wheat stalks was passing.
"Like, does she make annoying faces, or always seem pissed off at you while she acts politely to us?"
"I mean, yeah, she does do that sometimes... Why?"
She smiles, tucking her hair in her ear as the morning breeze blew hair hair behind her, splaying it out in the wind.
"That just means she's worried for you. She's lost a lot of fellow adventurers, and always blamed herself for it. So she acts or angry to those she heals that sustain a lot of injuries, because she doesn't want them to see her worried."
That's... Actually pretty sweet, and kinda depressing.
She then tilts her head to the road as she smiles slightly with her lips, and I begin moving with her, speeding up to run again.
Even while I run and move my arms around in the air, the burnt arm barely stings. And to think that it was burnt to the level it was sliding off of the bone, it truly is a miracle it even functions, let alone function as a normal arm would, barely hurting. And adding that to the fact that it was my entire body that was burnt, though varying in severity to the arm, it really puts it into perspective just how much effort Reigna put. Despite being all annoying, Reigna is actually a good Cleric. Can't put against her for getting angry... Even so, she still is pretty annoying, so can't give her all the credit.
As we ran, I couldn't help but look around. It was the same old village as last year. The same old village as last time I jogged when I woke up from the coma. The same old village as the one we walked through the other day to head to the mines. But, for some reason, seeing it like this, really looking at it, it looks more beautiful than last time. Empty patches of wheat fields with some golden ends sticking out of the dirt. Piles of golden stalks of wheat piled on the ground to be picked up and distributed using wagons. Many more fields left unharvested, or still being harvested by the farmers.
The farmers themselves were polite, and were waving and greeting us while we ran, some praising us for killing the Wyvern, and some for what happened in the mines, since many people who wandered too close often got killed or went missing, so they are now glad it was cleared. I really didn't think I deserved any of the praise. All I did for both times was throw myself carelessly, and during the Wyvern attack, I didn't even do anything to it. Charllem killed it all by herself. I'm nowhere close to her.
As the fields grew lesser as we moved to the shore, and the dirt road turned to paved stone, the sight of large and small ships alike, carrying goods for trade in the port market, or to be carried further inland, toward other villages and cities, was astounding. Sure, back on earth, cargo ships were much, much larger than these boats, but something about them being made in a place with technologies resembling the medieval era, with their incredible details, made them so much more alluring. It was as if seeing masterpieces floating on the sea, and setting sail towards farther lands.
"You've been quiet since we continued running." Charllem said at my side.
"I was just... Enjoying the views. Sometimes, I forget just how beautiful this village is, even though I'm one of it's residents."
Charllem then laughed, covering her mouth with the back of her hand.
"You sound like an old man! With how tall you are, and with how you speak, I often forgot you're not older than me."
You didn't forget it that time, even if you mean't no harm by it...
"You know, if you become an adventurer, you'll see sights just like this all around the continent. The world even. And you'll see wonders beyond your wildest imaginations, and experience things greater than those you reaad in books." She said as she slowed to a walk, her eyes gleeming with childlike joy and wonder.
"I'm not saying you have to become an adventurer to see all that, but, if you do, you'll truly not regret it. You get to go places, see places, meet people, save people... Just thinking about it gets me excited. But it also hurts, since sometimes, you have to leave the places and people you had such great times with."
I look at her, like really look at her.
"Is that why you became an adventurer?"
"Yeah... I became an adventurer because I wanted to experience all that with such incredible people like Reigna, Erin, and Kynia."
I then chuckle, and smile. Lighthearted, innocent, warm.
"I guess it won't be too bad if I become one too..."
