So we shift our focus to Fumiko, to the very moment Chiaki fell. We pretty much watch the panic set in as some familiar lines Chiaki's heard before are said.

Time passes, the sky grows a little darker, and the ambulance arrives to take Chiaki. And Fumiko is left to just watch helplessly, as they close the van and drive away with no answers to calm her nerves. All of this uncertainty fills her with the dread of the worst case scenario. It sure didn't take long for things to get heavy here.
On a lighter note, I spent a lot of time looking into Japanese ambulances and EMTs for this scene. There may be some discrepancies as to how things look. I found it surprisingly difficult to look up (and be able to confirm) ambulances, in Japan, from specifically 26 years ago. I'm sure the general idea is consistent enough, so I'm going to assume it's probably fine. For purposes of avoiding any legal issues, I didn't want it to be perfectly identical anyway.
I did have a bit of a moment though, while drawing this page. I remembered thinking when I started this comic, "if I do a fantasy comic, I can avoid having to draw cars!" Because if you've read my work on Rain, you may know: I hate drawing cars. So go figure, eight chapters into my fantasy comic, not only is there a car, but it's a very specific car. XD
Well, I think this confirms time dilation. Also interesting to see it means Chiaki's currently got two bodies, even if she can't control both at once.
And this raises some interesting questions with Rhys too, like how much time has passed on Earth over the longer period he's been here. If he and Chiaki compared notes on the date, would they find a mismatch? Though with him saying he stopped hearing voices after a while, that'd make me wonder if he's stuck in a coma without visitors anymore or if his Earth body might even have died in the interim.
Follows the strange story of Chiaki, a daydreaming otaku who longs to confess her feelings to her childhood friend, Fumiko, and how that's made especially difficult when she gets transported to another world...
