We decided it best to stay in the siding for the night. Luckily, I was able to patch up the hole on Percy's piston last night, so we could get moving. Sadly, we had to leave the coaches as they were derailed, but we told the passengers we would try and find a crane. Percy was also on a mission to find Duck, so we set off for Callan in reverse.
We soon arrived, and the town was in horrible shape. Just then, we heard a noise coming from the far goods shed, followed by the sound of an engine puffing out of the yard. A second later, we were shocked to see Douglas' twin Donald come out into view! Percy and Donald were very happy to see each other, and lucky for us, Donald seemed basically unscathed; just a bit dirty. His crew was with him, and they told us what happened.
Donald's Story:
They told us that the day before, they had just arrived to at Callan to take a goods train. They were waiting for the guard when they heard what sounded like helicopters in the distance. Suddenly, one of them shot a huge missile towards the town! Donald quickly raced forward and reversed into the goods shed so they had some cover. They saw Duck race past heading for the costal track, but other than that, nothing.
We told them of our experience and they were horrified; we asked them if they wanted to join us, and they agreed. We decided to head down the costal line to try and find Duck, and we luckily didn't have to go far...
We found Duck dangling on the edge of a giant hole in the ground! We knew he could fall at any second, so Percy and Donald got behind him, and I hopped out to couple Duck's coach Mirabelle to Percy. Percy and Donald pulled him slowly back onto level ground, and we took Duck and his coaches back to Callan. We soon arrived back and Duck was very thankful; Percy asked him how he ended up teetering and he decided to tell us his whole story.
Duck's Story:
He said that after we passed him, he had a hard time starting because he wasn't used to starting off so fast. He quickly built-up speed and charged on faster than he had ever gone before. Just as he got to Haultraugh, he suddenly noticed all the helicopters that had been after us started going for him! He braced for impact as several explosives went off behind him. He pushed himself even harder as he passed by us crashed in the siding at Arlesburgh. He raced through Callan, and luckily most of the helicopters started setting off explosions in the town. Suddenly, he got sent onto the costal line and the last helicopter that was after him sent a huge missile towards the track, which caused a massive explosion! The helicopter flew away as he tried to stop! He stopped just before he went over the edge of the giant crater in the ground. His front wheels were off the line, and he didn't want to risk trying to get back on level ground with the chance of him falling in the water, so he had no choice but to stay and wait for help. His crew did the same thing.
After he finished, Percy then noticed there was a crane in the yard! I guess we didn't notice it when we initially came. We quickly went back to Arlesburgh and re-railed the coaches and afterwards decided to stay in the shed at Callan for the night; we're planning on heading down the line tomorrow to hopefully find the others; I just hope we don't get bombed overnight.
