Well, there goes hoping we wouldn't get bombed. A few planes started dropping bombs on the already destroyed town around 6:00AM. Luckily they didn't notice us in the goods shed, but we needed to get out of there or else a bomb would probably land on the shed roof any minute. Greg quickly got Percy's fire going, and Duck's crew, (Sam and Erick) got Duck's fire going. Donald's crew didn't have time to get his fire going, so Duck would have to pull him. While the planes were out of sight for a short time, we made our move. We quickly got out of the shed while Donald's driver coupled him up behind Duck. Quickly, Duck grabbed Alice and Mirable, and we made a run for it! We quickly got out of the yard and dashed away towards Arlesburgh.
When we were about to approach Arlesburgh, we thought it wasn't safe enough, so we decided to continue on. We soon arrived at Tidmouth Hault, and it was in rough shape, most of the yard had been blown up, and some rocks from the cliffside had fallen across the rails, so we would have to continue even further.
We soon arrived at Tidmouth Station, and it was also in rough shape, the whole town was in flames. Luckily, the yard along with the branch line sheds were alright, so we could finally bunker down, as by now we were all super tired from having to wake up so early. Since we arrived, we've been resting here for the last few hours; I think we might be continuing up to Knapford later, but I'll have to see what the others think.
Thankfully, the others were okay with going to Knapford, but they thought we should check Tidmouth sheds first, so I agreed to the plan. I guess I should also mention that we left around 11:00AM. It didn't take us very long before we arrived at the sheds, good god it was awful. The yard was completely blown up, and the sheds themselves were on fire! I hopped out of the cab to try and see if I could see anything or anyone inside, and thankfully I didn't see anyone through the flames, which was a relief. When I walked back over, I could tell that Percy was very upset about loosing his home. I just patted him on his buffer, hopped back in the cab, and we continued on.
The rest of the journey up to Knapford was quiet, and awkward. I feel really bad for Percy as he's lost so much in just a few days. If Thomas and Toby are dead, I think that's the end of his sanity.
After a short journey, we made it to Knapford and once again, it was in horrible shape. The whole town had been bombed, luckily when we were passing through the harbour, we saw that it was basically unscathed, so we decided to go and rest at Knapford sheds.
We arrived and no one was there, but we were thankful that the sheds were kind of secluded, so we felt much safer here than being at Tidmouth. Now we've been resting here for about an hour. We're not sure if we want to do anymore searching today, but we'll see.
Well, I guess staying here was a good idea. Around 4:00PM, a blu tender engine known as Edward came racing in with a train of coaches! We were all so happy to see him, and he was glad to see we were alright. He got settled into the sheds, and we told him of our experiences, and he was very distraught over it all. Percy then asked what happened to him, and he told us his story.
Edward's Story:
He told us that he woke up early to take an early morning passenger train. He saw us, Thomas, James, and Gordon all leave the sheds, as Henry was left alone. He arrived at Knapford to find Gordon and James. James was taking a goods train while Gordon had his early morning express. Just as Edward was about to head out, several planes appeared over the station and the town. Suddenly, they started dropping bombs into the town! The people's screams were cut off by several massive explosions! The 3 engines knew they had to get out of there. With his brakes screeching, Edward charged out of the station, followed by Gordon and James. As they all got onto the mainline, Gordon quickly overtook Edward and raced into the distance. James however kept pace with Edward, and they charged on down the line. Edward was getting tired as he wasn't used to going at these speeds, but James didn't stop, so while Edward went to stop at Elsbridge, James continued on down the mainline.
After Edward came to a stop at the platform, he was given a minute to catch his breath. Just then, he heard a familiar whistle in the distance and then saw Henry race by light engine heading for Crosby, no idea where he is now. Edward decided to stay at Elsbridge for the next day and then ventured up here today.
After he finished his story, we decided we had all had enough adventures for today and thought we should get some sleep. We might head back down to Elsbridge and go up the Ffarquhar branch tomorrow to try and find Thomas or Toby to keep Percy's mind in check, but I'll have to ask the others what they think.
