I barely got any sleep last night due to Percy's crying. I have never felt this guilty in my life. Having all your friends just abandon you? I can't imagine how much pain Percy is feeling right now. Once Greg was up, he started getting Percy's fire ready. While he was doing that, I went to check on Percy, and when I saw his face, I couldn't describe it. His eyes were bloodshot red, his pupils were much smaller than they should've been, and there were streaks upon streaks of where all his tears had gone down his face. He looked at me, and I looked at him. I didn't want to say anything so I just hopped back into his cab. Greg had gotten his fire going by this point, so we slowly puffed out of the shed. We quickly went to check the Kindley Cottage but there was no one there; seems they evacuated the house during the Ffarquhar attack. I walked back to the cab, and we left.
We slowly made our way down the branch, and all was silent; none of us were saying anything. I kept looking to see how Percy was doing, but I decided not to say anything.
We exited the branch, and I thought I saw some coaches at the sawmill down the line towards Tidmouth, but I brushed it off. Considering how tired I was, I thought I was just dreaming. We pulled into Elsbridge and found nothing. The fires that had been here had gone out, but the whole area was now burnt to a crisp. We thought about heading up the mainline to try and find James or Gordon like Edward described. Greg agreed and told Percy we'd be heading off, but all we heard was Percy sounding like he was having a panic attack! We yelled at him to snap out of it, and thankfully he did. After turning around at the Y switch, we set off down the mainline.
We pulled into Crosby and at first, we found nothing. It seemed that Crosby had been missed too. We put Percy into one of the sidings and we couldn't believe who was there. It was Thomas along with Annie and Clarabel! Percy was so happy to see Thomas was alright and Thomas was too, until he got a closer look at Percy's face, and noticed his eyes, and the tears. Percy then went on to explain what happened yesterday, and after he was finished, Thomas was both shocked, and disgusted. He couldn't believe an engine like Edward would do such a thing.
I was just happy to see that Percy finally was starting to seem like himself again. I hopped out of Percy's cab and when I saw his face, his eyes were now back to normal, but he still had streaks from the tears. I then remembered something I had in the cab, so I used a rag to clean off the streaks. After we all had a chance to collect ourselves, Percy asked Thomas what happened to him after we left Tidmouth, and he told us.
Thomas' Story:
After he ran from Tidmouth, he raced passed Henry leaving the sheds heading back towards Tidmouth, but he didn't think about him for long as when he passed Tidmouth Sheds, a bomb was dropped on them! He felt a small tear run down his cheek as he continued on. He was approaching Knapford and went into a panic seeing the helicopters bombing the area knowing he wouldn't make it out alive, but he somehow made it through unscathed! He then approached Henry's tunnel, and he decided to stop in there until there were no helicopters in sight.
Later that night, he made his way down the mainline and decided to stay at Crosby where he had been ever since.
After he finished, we started to think of where we wanted to go next when we heard a whistle coming towards us; it was Douglas! We were all quick to notice that he had an engine with him that we had never seen before. It appeared to be a Great Western 14XX Auto Tank, an Auto-coach, and a Toad Brake van. Douglas was relieved to see us and he asked if we had seen Donald. Percy just looked away crossly, so I hopped out of the cab and I had to tell Douglas and his crew what happened yesterday. Douglas was very upset with Donald, Duck, and Edward for just leaving us. I then asked where this engine came from, and Douglas explained.
The night he spoke to us; he arrived on the Mainland and had just shunted his train into a siding when he heard a faint hissing sound coming from a siding. He then found this engine who goes by Oliver, his Auto-coach named Isabel, and brakevan named Toad. He managed to rescue them from the scrapyard but when he got back on Sodor was when the first bombings were going on. He quickly got into the works at Crovan's Gate where he found several of the Narrow-Gauge engines inside. They spent the next several days getting Oliver working again. They didn't bother repainting him so he was still all rusty, but he was in perfect working order which was great.
Douglas, Oliver, Isabel, and Toad soon got settled into the yard with us. I then started thinking of what we should do next. I asked Douglas if he had seen anyone further up the line, and he said the morning he got to the works; he saw Gordon thunder through heading for the Mainland, so hopefully he made it out. Other than that, no one. After Douglas finished, we made a list of all the engines we need to find.
-Edward: (Not a priority) -Henry -Gordon -James -Duck: (Not a priority) -Donald: (Not a priority) -Bill -Ben -BoCo -Bear -Daisy -All the Narrow Gauge Engines
I feel like I'm missing someone but maybe it's just me. Anyway, we have quite a lot of searching to do, so hopefully we can find all these engines, and get off this retched island and find somewhere safe. I'll stop writing for today as my hand is really starting to ache.
