Alright, so it's around late morning when I'm writing this, and that's because me, the crews, and all the engines had a big meeting, and after much thought and hearing different prospectives, we decided that we needed to get off the island by the end of the day. We're sadly going to have to leave the others at Brendam as it's just too risky to try and rescue them ourselves. The consist will be as follows, a flatbed, followed by Edward, we would have Gordon at the front, but he's still unconscious, so Edward is our best bet. After him will be a truck and then Duck pulling Alice and Mirabel. Following them would be another truck, with Percy, Thomas, Annie, Clarabel, and Henrietta. Finally, will be another truck, and Gordon since we'll have to pull him. We'll also have a van, and a brake van at the back to protect Gordon. Harold will also be flying above as he'll be following us on our journey. Hopefully we can just make a dash down the Mainline, reach Crovan's Gate and pick up any of the little engines if there are flatbeds, and get off this damn island.
Just before we were about to leave, I heard static coming through on my radio, and it was the man himself, Sir Topham Hatt! We all couldn't believe he was still alive and I quickly told him where we were, along with our plan. He said he was down at Crosby in his car and would meet us straight away. As soon as I turned off the radio, we all noticed another car pulling up beside the station, and I couldn't believe my eyes! It was my family! My wife and kids ran over to me, and we all gave each other the biggest hugs! I was crying in happiness that they were all okay. I told them that we were waiting on Topham to get here, and then we would be leaving for the Mainland. They understood and I said they should hop in Annie too which they agreed.
A few minutes passed and a familiar blue car pulled into the station, and Topham greeted us warmly. He hopped aboard Annie, and we started to pull off. Just as we cleared the junction, we heard the sound of a diesel engine coming in fast, and to our horror, Diesel came racing off the branch! All of the crews threw open the regulators, and we sped away, just as Diesel started to give chase! We had just gotten to full speed when we reached Gordon's hill, and when we reached the top, we screamed in horror as we saw several German helicopters sending missiles towards us! We only just missed getting hit, but they stayed on us as we raced down the hill! Diesel was starting to catch up, and we were all starting to panic. Suddenly, we all felt a huge bump from the rear of the train. We thought it was Diesel, but it was actually Gordon! Thank god we had Keith and Ted stayed in his cab just in case of an emergency. Gordon quickly got us going super fast!
We sped through Maron and Diesel was now quite the distance behind us. As we neared Cronk-Abbey, we saw Henry and Bear race out of the yard with a train of coaches! We quickly caught up to them and yelled at them to run! They quickly saw what we were referring to, and they both sped up! Percy, Edward, and Thomas were all starting to get tired, so now Gordon and Duck had to do most of the work which was slowing us down. Thomas quickly recovered, and with his help, we got back up to speed! The Germans were catching up to us fast, and they kept shooting which wasn't helping. Every time one of those missiles exploded, it would rock us around and I almost fell out of the cab a few times.
We kept on going, and we were soon approaching Crovan's Gate. We knew considering the situation we were in that there was no way we would be able to pick any of them up, so we had no choice but to keep going. We raced through and from what I saw, there was Skarloey, Rheneas, Duncan, and Sir Handel at the main sheds, we whistled for them to hide as we barrelled through.
The sight of Crovan's Gate was soon out of sight, and we were now approaching the Suspension Bridge. We all started to cross, but then one of the helicopters shot a missile towards the bridge! We had barely made it across, when the bridge exploded! The whole damn thing fell to pieces, but suddenly, we all came to a sudden stop. The brake van and van had gone over the side of the bridge, and we couldn't move! Henry and Bear had to leave us and kept going. Suddenly, the coupling snapped between Gordon and the van, and we shot forward just as another missile was shot at us! We were now in the home stretch towards the Mainland. We sped through Ballahoo, and we could all see Vicarstown! We shot through the station and soon, the sight of the bridge came into view! As we were approaching, we saw a large group of people on the other side, and we were shocked to see the military! We made it over the bridge and came to a stop. The general told us to make a run for Barrow, and they would deal with the Germans. We didn't hesitate and sped away just as the helicopters started to fly over the water.
We soon arrived at Barrow and luckily Henry and Bear were already there. They were glad to see we had all made it, and we couldn't agree more. We went to go rest in the yard near the station until we got word from the military on what we should do. After a few hours, the stationmaster came over to us and he spoke with Topham, he told us that we could all go rest in the sheds down the line. Then he said that us crews could go rest in the hotel a block away, and we could get in free due to the circumstances. We thanked him very much and set off.
After a short journey, we arrived at the sheds and we put the engines into the sheds. These sheds were filled with diesels. They growled and snarled at us, but once we got engines all settled down, Topham spoke to the diesels, and told them the hell we had gone through, to which they all fell silent, now noticing our injuries. They deeply apologized to us and said they would let the steam engines rest. Before I left, I went over to Percy, who was chatting with Thomas, and gave him a tap on his buffer, followed by saying, "I'm proud of you." Percy gave a warm smile, and I said goodbye.
We thankfully had no problems getting to the hotel. The manager had already been told about us, and he warmly welcomed us. After we got to our rooms, I was finally able to take a nice relaxing shower and then rest on a warm bed while watching TV. I honestly never thought I would get to do this again, but alas, here we are. I just wrote all this down before going to bed, so I'll write in here tomorrow once we get news about the island, and especially the other engines.
