An Island of Bombings | A TTTE AU

June 13th, 1967

I could not sleep at all last night; I just kept crying and crying. Eventually, I was able to get myself to stop, and I started to think about the engines, and I decided to make a list of everyone we've found or know about. After thinking, I realized we forgot about the Narrow-Gauge engines! I was going to tell the general, but I then realized that Greg had my radio, and he... well... you know. I would have to go tell him in person.

I left my room and saw Bob outside his room on a bench. I walked over to him and I told him what I was going to do, but he said there was no need, and I was confused on what he was talking about. He then pulled something out of his pocket, and it was the radio! I asked him how he had it, and he said that it fell out of Greg's pocket when he ran towards Percy, he quickly picked it up and then ran for cover. I was so happy and immediately turned the radio on and told the general. He said he would send some men to collect them, and we got off. I decided we should head to the works to check on the engines that are there, and Bob went to get Ted up to tell him. Once he was awake and ready, we left the hotel.

We soon made it to the shed and picked up Thomas. He was still very shaken from yesterday, and he didn't look well at all. Once he was steamed up, we set off for the works. The journey was mostly quiet. Me, Bob, and Ted talked somewhat but Thomas stayed completely silent. I noticed this and I couldn't help but worry about him.

Soon enough, we pulled into the works. I hopped out of the cab and looked around. I noticed Duck, BoCo and the China Clay twins near the exit to the works just getting cleaned. Douglas sat behind BoCo looking very shaken. I saw Topham there going around checking on all his engines, along with trying to have a chat with Douglas, but no luck. I also noticed Gordon, Donald, James, Henry, Bear, Oliver, his coach and brake van in the far back asleep while waiting for repairs. Lastly, Edward sat a few tracks away from BoCo and the twins with a concerned expression on his face. I decided to go and try to talk to him.

I walked over to the old engine and asked him if he was alright, he said he was just trying to process everything that had happened. I then told him about Thomas, and he asked if he would be able to talk to him. I went over to Bob and Ted, and they soon got Thomas turned around and backed him into the works next to Edward. We decided to leave them alone to talk while the three of us went to go talk to Topham.

He was happy to see us when we approached him. I asked him if the other engines would be alright, and he said they should all be fine along with their scratches which will heal over time. Bob then had a thought, and asked Topham an important question. "Will we ever be able to return to Sodor?" Topham looked worriedly at us and said he wasn't sure. With all the damage that has been done, some things may not be able to be repaired. The three of us all shot a worried look towards each other. Topham said that nothing has been officially decided, so we shouldn't worry about anything right now. We said our goodbyes and made our way back over to Thomas while Topham went to talk to the works manager.

As we approached him, we could hear him happily chatting with Edward, and we all felt such a sigh of relief knowing he was doing better. We all stepped in front of him, and he gave us a cheerful smile. Before we could say anything else, Topham ran over to us with a message. He told us that he had gotten a call from the controller of the Mainland and he said that he wanted to hold a special event congratulating us all on surviving the attack and making it out alive once all the engines were repaired. That wasn't all though, Topham told him how upset Thomas had been, and the Mainland controller had arranged for Thomas to take a passenger train with Annie and Clarabel! Thomas was ecstatic about this and he wanted to leave now! Bob told Topham to let the controller know that it was on, and Topham went back to the office to let him know. Thomas said goodbye to Edward, and we set off to collect Annie and Clarabel!

We pulled into a set of sidings near the works and there were Annie and Clarabel all cleaned and polished! Luckily for us, Thomas had been cleaned in the shed the previous night, so he was all ready to go. Once everyone was ready, we left for the station.

When we arrived at the station, it was pack-loaded with people! Once Thomas came to a stop, Bob and Ted got out of the cab to grab some drinks as they were thirsty, so I stayed with Thomas. Just then, a little boy came running along the platform and went up to Thomas holding something in his hand, it was one of the Railway Series books! Thomas was flattered and the boy told him how much he enjoyed his stories! The boy said goodbye and left to hop aboard Annie. Bob and Ted got back and when everyone was ready, the guard blew his whistle, and we set off out of the station.

As we travelled through the countryside, we all felt a huge sigh of relief now knowing we were safe once again, while I had lost 2 very close allies to me, I was still happy knowing I had friends to help me through my struggles. We soon made it back to the station, and I noticed some familiar faces on the platform, it was my family! When we came to a stop, I hopped out of the cab and gave them all a big hug! After that, I decided to go find Topham and ask him about my job now since Percy is no longer here.

We arrived back at the works, and Topham was still there. I walked over to him and asked him the question. He said I won't get sacked, and that I'll probably take over as the engine that would be replacing Percy. I understood and left back for the hotel. I think I'm going to put this journal away for the time being until something major happens, hopefully it won't be too long until then.
