Well, it's been quite a while since I wrote in this, but I do have some updates for you all. First of all, we've repaired the Mainline from Vicarstown to Crovan's Gate since it wasn't too heavily damaged! Bertie is out taking passengers along the roads between Vicarstown and Crovan's Gate while the other surviving road vehicles are all still on the Mainland at the moment, and the Skarloey Railway engines are now back working on their railway repairing the damage they suffered, their progress is going a little slow though, and they still haven't found Peter Sam or Rusty. Now as for the standard gauge engines, Edward, Henry, Gordon, Duck, Oliver, BoCo, Bill, Ben, and Bear are all up and running! Thomas and Douglas are still recovering, but Duck is doing alright now. At the moment, Duck is the station pilot for Vicarstown, Henry and Gordon running local passenger services, and everyone else has been helping with the reconstruction of the Mainline. There are still a few engines being repaired, like James and Donald. James is getting his wounds treated along with some exterior damage he suffered during that final shooting, and Donald was confirmed to be getting an entire overhaul due to his damage, so he'll be laid up at the works for quite some time.
As for me, I've grown used to driving Oliver. He got repaired on July 5th, and these past few weeks have been normal. I've also grown to liking Arnold; he and Oliver have been telling me many adventures they've had, mainly about their escape to Sodor which I've found fascinating. I'll never fully get over everything that happened and the friends I lost, but as I've learned, you need to push through the tough times and move on, even if it's hard to live with the memory. The other night, I was talking with Topham and we agreed to make statues of all the engines we lost, mainly Percy for me in this case, and they'll be placed either at the Vicarstown Railway Museum, Knapford, or on their respective parts of the island they worked at. I mainly wanted to do this just to try and help ease my nerves along with others, and I think this'll be a good thing to do for everyone.
One last major thing happened a few days ago I think I should discuss. It was on July 15th at around 7:00PM. Oliver had just finished delivering a train of building supplies to Kellsthrope when he, Arnold and I noticed Thomas and Edward in the small yard near the station talking about something, and I thought we should see what was going on. I uncoupled Oliver and we made our way over to the yard and stopped next to the two blue engines. Thomas was just telling Edward how guilty he felt for letting Percy die and that there had to of been something he could've done, but Edward told him that he tried his best to save both Percy, and the other engines. Oliver chimed in saying how brave Thomas was for taking on Diesel 10 and that Percy would be very proud of him for taking him down. Thomas smiled and thanked both the engines before they all looked up to the stars above them. I felt a huge sense of relief knowing Thomas was doing better considering the horrors he went through. If we'd lost Edward, I don't know what would've happened to him. Other than that, there's nothing really else I have to talk about, and I think I'm basically done with this journal. It's been one hell of a ride, but I'm glad things are starting to get back to somewhat how they were before even though I know they'll never go back to how they were.
Anyway, I have to get up early tomorrow to collect a train of building supplies for the Sodor Airport so I'll be heading off. Wait a minute, oh my god I'm stupid! I forgot to even mention my last name at the start of this journal, how could I forget something like that!? Well anyway, this is Dave Mathews, signing off for the final time.
