It seemed to be taken off-guard with Doctor Tabulas statement, the General thought. And if it was working, she wasn't about to interfere and potentially make things worse.



"You're confused, and I understand. Once this is over, I'll explain everything. But right now, you'll need to fight"



MKs head jerked up at it began to wave its hands in front of itself as if warding off the idea.



"Woah woah, I'm not-I'm just a normal person I'm not crazy strong or anything"



Doctor Tabula shook his head.



"You are now, your body is now much stronger and more durable, your natural abilities now far exceed any normal human"



Like a monster, General Hardline thought, a cursed creature that embodied everything her soldiers, her COMRADES died to save civilian life from, a monstrous-



"What? Like a superhero?"



...it took everything that the General had to not give a derisive snort. But the Doctor, a little bewildered, nodded to the monster with human features.



"Er, right, you can save a lot of people with your abilities"



MK looked down at its claw, clenching and unclenching as it talked, almost to itself.



"How many people"



It was clear that the Doctor didn't know the answer besides "a lot".



But General Hardline did.



All on-site personnel, plus their families that live at the base, plus all civilian contractors...



"Twelve thousand, seven hundred and four"



MK was silent at hearing that number, and seemed to be...conflicted. Or perhaps girding itself.



After a few seconds the creature looked up, with a much more serious look on its face as it hopped off the surgical table.



"Alright, let's go"
