Fangs, Blood And Fate

The trip

The trip

May 10, 2026

Evindal was traveling in a carriage, having just woken up from a nap. He gruntingly rubbed his eyes to fly the sleep away. Aurora was sitting next to him, unusually quiet, her bright violet eyes locked onto his but didn't say anything more. His eyes noticed the book in Aurora's hand.

The sky, outside, was gloomy and gray. Slowly, Evindal sat back up on the carriage. Of course, everyone wasn't sharing a single carriage, there were four carriages, and sixteen people, maybe more but as Senori put it, hybrids, like kistunes or nekomates did know every corner of the forest so they had no need for a carriage.

There were four people in each carriage, so, it wasn't that uncomfortable. He really wondered where these adventurers got their wealth from, though. Aurora finally spoke, breaking the silence, her voice was calm, devoid of the usual teasing and mischief in it: "How was your nap?" Evindal replied, his voice calm as well: "Good, how is the book you are currently reading, hmm?"

Aurora just nodded. This silence was comforting, there was a goblin boy, Aurora and his age sitting in front of seconds. He spoke: "Hello! You must be the new member, I am Mulwani!" Evindal greeted him as well by nodding his head and shaking the extended hand. Evindal spoke: "I heard goblins are excellent warriors, are they not?" Mulwani nodded and said, his voice cheery and joyful: "They are! Most of us goblins always become imperial guards or dragon slayers but I wanted to be a warrior and explore the world!"

Evindal nodded, and said: "A valid reason, I suppose." There was Aurelia, the fourth member, who was currently sleeping. Mulwani and Aurora continued their conversation, Evindal just stayed silent. Occasionally, nodding along with the other two.

Suddenly, the carriage stopped. Senori came from ahead, bored and tired: "We're taking a break here, Sihir needs to practice her magic!" Everyone, except Evindal, groaned. It seems they didn't like the mage's constant need to practice.

Evindal looked at Aurora, and spoke: "You aren't acting like your usual self." Aurora replied, unusually harsh, not that Evindal cared, of course: "We have only known each other for four day, how would you know what my usual self is like?" Evindal didn't reply back, knowing she was right.
