“Mr. Han, I don’t think Lucian will agree to this,” Ren stated cautiously.
He was right to worry. Given how fiercely Lucian hated Omegas, he would definitely refuse, just as he had every time before.
“I am his grandfather. How can he say no to me?” Mr. Han countered confidently. “And do you know the name of that Omega?”
“His name was Chiyo.”
Hearing the name, the grandfather glanced around with a pleased smile. “Chiyo! Did he come to this party?”
Ren nodded. He had some urgent work, as he had just received a message from his staff requiring his immediate assistance. After quickly answering the grandfather, Ren excused himself and left.
Two weeks later
“What the hell!” Lucian shouted in a rage. “How many times do I need to tell you I don’t want to get married? I don’t even like Omegas, so why bother to arrange my marriage?”
Lucian was furious because his grandfather had suddenly dropped the marriage bomb on him without warning. His reaction was exactly as expected.
He kicked a nearby chair across the office floor. His grandfather remained seated calmly in the main executive chair, watching Lucian’s uncontrolled anger.
“Lucian, it’s just an arranged marriage for business. Don’t be so furious,” his grandfather said calmly.
Lucian marched up to the desk in front of his grandfather, leaning forward and bracing himself with one hand on the surface.
“A marriage alliance for business? I am your only grandson, and you’re selling me out for your pathetic business? Are you serious right now?”
“I am doing all this for you,” his grandfather countered. “Even if it’s a business marriage, it is with a good omega. And I have already set the date for next week, so be ready.”
Hearing that, Lucian spun around. He couldn't believe his grandfather was actively forcing him into an arranged marriage. “Why are you doing this to me? It’s my own fucking life! Let me live my life peacefully, will you?” Lucian yelled.
His back was turned to his grandfather, who remained silent. The older man was deeply saddened to see his grandson behave this way and say such painful things.
“Lucian, when will you understand? I am doing all this for you,” his grandfather pleaded.
Lucian didn't reply. He simply strode forward, opened the door, and stormed out of the office. Leaving the company building, he drove straight to one of the KT Hotels to find Ren.
“You know what? Grandpa has arranged my marriage,” Lucian announced as he collapsed onto a sofa. He picked up a cup of coffee and took a measured sip.
Hearing this, Ren sat down across from him, looking surprised. “What! Really? That means you’re actually getting married now?”
Lucian slowly lowered the cup from his lips, scrutinizing Ren. “You already knew about this, didn’t you?”
Ren flinched. He hadn't expected Lucian to catch on so quickly.
“No, how would I know?” he lied poorly.
“Hey, don't lie. You know you can’t deceive me. Your face is getting pale and you’re sweating—that only happens when you lie.”
As best friends and business partners, Lucian knew Ren's tells intimately. Ren couldn't lie or deny the accusation; it was clear he was the one who had, in a sense, ‘sold’ his friend out to his grandfather.
“Okay, fine. I already knew about this,” Ren confessed.
Hearing Ren’s admission, Lucian sighed deeply, set the cup down on the table, and leaned back against the sofa.
“Man, chill out. It’s not like your life is ending here. And do you want to know who you’re marrying? It’s someone you’ve already met,” Ren said, trying to lighten the mood.
Lucian rolled his eyes, his face clearly screaming his total lack of interest. “I don’t want to know, since I’m not getting married anyway. I’ll just say no to Grandpa later, so there’s no need to know the Omega’s name.”
“Do you remember that Omega you met at your birthday party two weeks ago? His name was Chiyo. Your grandpa fixed your marriage with him,” Ren revealed casually, looking around the room as if discussing the weather.
Lucian was utterly stunned. His eyes widened, and he quickly looked around before picking up the coffee cup again. He drank the entire contents in one gulp, then set the empty cup down on the table.
“But didn’t that Omega say he had a boyfriend already? So how did he agree to marry me? And how did my grandpa find out about him?” Lucian demanded, his eyes darting around as he tried to process the information.
Ren noticed Lucian's agitation. “Your grandpa saw you sitting with Chiyo that day. And honestly, I don't know what happened with Chiyo’s boyfriend, or why Chiyo agreed to the marriage.”
Lucian nodded, scratching his head. “Whatever. It’s just a business marriage anyway, so I’ll marry him,” Lucian mumbled, almost to himself.
Ren’s eyes widened in surprise. This was the last thing Ren had expected to hear from Lucian.
“Wait—that means you are actually saying yes to this marriage?” Ren asked, stunned.
Lucian stood up from the sofa. “I’m only getting married because Grandpa insisted. I don't want him to keep worrying about me. That's the only reason I’m saying yes,” Lucian tried to explain.
Ren folded his arms across his chest and offered Lucian an evil smile. “Oh, is that so?”
Lucian didn't want to say anything more, so he turned to leave. However, he paused, realizing he didn't want to return to his own company just yet. He also remembered he had left his mobile on the sofa, so he walked back to retrieve it.
“Dude, don’t be like this. Come on, don't leave me alone! Let's go for a drink. This will be our last drink as single men,” Ren urged, seizing the opportunity.
Lucian paused, then conceded with a sigh.
Later that evening, the two best friends went to a bar to drink.
“Man, it honestly feels like a dream that you’re getting married,” Ren said, sipping his drink. “I need to find a partner for myself, too.”
