Exalted - A Stranger in Olympus

Olympus Terminal

Olympus Terminal

May 15, 2026

Ahead of her were various signs. On the left were the platforms to Panna and Asema, on the right the platforms to Talo, Paikka and Tehtava were located. The signs also informed her that there was a restaurant on the left and the stairs and elevators on the right. At least that's what she assumed the little symbols meant. Only the platform signs had words indicating where they went. Around her a few people were about, but they paid her no attention, focused on their own destinations. Chrona slowly started walking to the right, heading for the stairs. It's not like she needed to rush now. As she walked, she went to stuff the ticket in her pocket, but it slipped against itself in a way it shouldn't. Holding it up, she realised the man had given her two pieces of paper back. One was the ticket, the other she realised had a hastily written message on. It said:

'If, for whatever reason, you need to flee here too. Find me and I'll help again. Kafui.'

As she finished reading the note, it faded away. Not just the message, but the paper it was written on. It curled upon itself getting smaller and smaller until it was gone. Chrona had heard of spells that were used on secret messages to make them burn away after they had been read, but those always left a little residual ash or mark against whatever they had burnt against. This note had simply curled up upon itself, again and again until it vanished from all existence. It was disconcerting, such spells were illegal. She had been told there was no reason for such a spell to ever be needed, if you were living your life honestly, you had nothing to fear. She closed her hand around her ticket and put it in her pocket. More than the spell, her biggest concern was that the man, Kafui apparently, seemed to believe she would need to flee here soon. Honestly, Chrona knew this was a possibility, but why did he know that? And why was he so willing to help?

Chrona started down the first set of stairs. As she neared the bottom she noticed a small black body curled on the final step. A cat was sleeping at the bottom. She smiled, crouched down and stroked the cat. Its ears twitched as she gently touched the animal. One green eye lazily opened to look at her. She gently ran her hand between its ears down and along its back. The cat purred softly.

"What an easy life, being able to just lie down and sleep wherever you want. I wish I could do that." Chrona told the cat before standing back up. She continued along to the next set of stairs, the cat watching as she went. One ear up as if in question. Perhaps offended at the idea that their life was easy.

As Chrona descended further it became busier and busier. There were people rushing about. She saw, for the first time, a man with large wings on his back flying up through the central hall before landing on the walkway opposite. He was hardly the only person here with wings Chrona realised, as she looked over the gilded railings to the ground floor. She could see people twice as tall as her, people with snake tails instead of legs. Scales and fur and all sorts of different people that she could never have imagined, all rushing about. It was amazing. It was hard to believe that such a place was such a short journey away from her home. She wondered if there were more people in this one building than the whole of the realm of Chriyo.

"Wow..." Chrona whispered to herself, leaning over the railing. This was everything she had wanted. To be somewhere like this, to be somewhere with so much... life. She closed her eyes and listened to the sounds of all those around her. Her senses stretched out from her, the vibrations of those around her reached into her very core. She could feel something that she couldn't put a name to, but the sensation made her relax. Whatever it was felt beautiful, calm. She knew this is where she needed to be, or, at the very least somewhere like it. Not that there were many places as big as Olympus, and none that she could flee to if the university decided to put out a warrant for her. But maybe they wouldn't, if she kept her head down and caused no issues. Maybe, just maybe they would let her be.

She opened her eyes and considered what she should do. She needed some sort of...direction. A purpose. If she had that, she could figure out all the rest afterwards. The golden railing was well looked after, the surface perfectly smooth, one could almost perfectly see themselves in it. Chrona used the tip of her finger, drawing a circle on the metal. She continued on, around it, drawing something invisible. The movements were clear and determined, this wasn't just random fiddling. This had a purpose. Because that was what she needed, a reason to be here, something to do. Her hand stilled and she muttered something to herself. The people around her ignored her presence. Finally she quietly asked no one in particular.

"Give me a purpose, show me something I can do. Show me something...show me someone I can help...?"

The railing beneath her hand glowed. From it something lifted, it almost looked like the kind of tape you'd see in a projector. They raised out of the glow, snaking their way up and around Chrona before finally making their way into her eyes. The pictures entered her mind. Endless and overlapping, showing countless scenes of countless people and places she had never seen before. The information would have been impossible to understand for most, in fact the amount of information would send a normal person insane. But Chrona wasn't a normal person, she wasn't a normal goddess. No she was a goddess of time, graduation be damned. This is who she was, this is what she was born to be. She asked time a question, and it would answer. All she had to do was understand it.

The spell faded, and Chrona smiled.

"Perfect!"

In the city, Artemis spends her days overworked, hunting down members of a newly emerging cult on the streets and alleyways, whilst trying to get to the bottom of what is really going on.
Meanwhile, Narita struggles with dissatisfaction with the role society has decreed to her. Trying to work out why everything about a life that should be ideal, feels wrong.
The way these three women's lives intertwine may rock the foundations of Olympian society to its core.
