Azaan ran through the hospital entrance with Viki in his arms, his heart pounding wildly in fear. His breath was uneven, his hands trembling as he shouted for help. Within seconds, the nurses rushed toward him with a stretcher.
"Please help him…" Azaan whispered, his voice breaking.
The doctors quickly took Viki into the emergency ward while Azaan stood frozen outside, unable to move. His chest felt tight as countless terrifying thoughts filled his mind. He had never been this scared before.
For the first time, he realized how deeply Viki mattered to him.
Azaan sat outside the emergency room, his hands shaking as he prayed silently. Every second felt painfully slow. He could hear the distant sounds of machines and hurried footsteps, making his anxiety grow even worse.
After what felt like forever, one of the doctors finally stepped out.
Azaan immediately stood up. "Doctor… how is he?"
The doctor adjusted his glasses before speaking calmly.
"He's alright now. But his body is extremely weak. He hasn't been sleeping properly, and he's not eating well either. Stress and exhaustion caused him to collapse. He needs complete rest."
The moment Azaan heard those words, relief washed over him so strongly that his knees almost gave out.
"Thank you, doctor… thank you so much," he said softly.
A few minutes later, Viki was shifted to a normal ward. Azaan slowly walked inside and sat beside him. Seeing Viki lying there with pale skin and tired eyes made his heart ache.
Without realizing it, Azaan gently held Viki's hand.
"I'm here," he whispered.
Even while unconscious, Viki's fingers weakly tightened around his hand, making Azaan's chest flutter strangely.
Wanting Viki to eat something after waking up, Azaan quietly went out and bought fresh fruits and juice from a nearby shop. When he returned, he carefully placed everything beside the bed before sitting down again.
He stayed there the entire night.
Every few minutes, he would check if Viki was comfortable, adjust his blanket, or make sure he was breathing normally. Despite being exhausted himself, Azaan refused to leave.
The next morning, Viki slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was Azaan sitting beside him with a worried expression.
For a moment, Viki simply stared at him.
"You're awake," Azaan said softly, relief clearly visible on his face.
Viki frowned slightly. "What happened?"
Azaan handed him a glass of juice before answering.
"You collapsed because you weren't taking care of yourself," he said gently. "No proper sleep. No proper food. Your body gave up."
Viki looked away in embarrassment.
"I'm fine now," he muttered.
Azaan sighed. "You call this fine?"
Though his tone sounded irritated, the concern in his eyes was impossible to hide.
Viki quietly drank the juice while Azaan peeled fruits for him. Watching Azaan care for him so sincerely made Viki's heart feel strangely warm.
A nurse entered the room to check Viki's temperature. As she leaned closer, Viki looked visibly uncomfortable.
Noticing it immediately, Azaan stepped forward.
"I'll do it," he said.
The nurse smiled and handed him the thermometer.
Azaan carefully checked Viki's temperature while Viki silently watched him. The gentleness in Azaan's actions made his heartbeat quicken.
When everything seemed normal, Viki let out a small sigh of relief.
"Thanks," he said quietly.
Azaan looked at him for a moment before giving a faint smile.
"Just focus on getting better."
And for the first time in a long while, Viki smiled back.
