This is a fairly open design document for webcomics and other media so anyone can make webcomics (or other media) in this setting, letting people tap into the benefits of a pre-made setting with some existing fandom.
Think of this more like the Starship Diagram books for Star Wars or the what the Silmarillian is to the Lord of the Rings.
In other words, it's not a story. It's simply lots of detailed lore for other stories.
Also, note, this means it may also contain SPOILERS for other stories, if any of the plot involves uncovering deep lore, or may make it easier to see plot twists coming.
There will be timelines, diagrams, tech explanations, world setting information, and much more.
This is setting information for the Orion Travelers universe.
What is the Orion Travelers universe?
It's a permissive open setting that anyone can create in, given that license rules are followed.
It has a feel inspired by such classics such as Star Trek, Babylon 5, The Orville, Red Dwarf, Farscape, etc.
This comic should be seen less a standard comic and more as a master document for all things that take place in the Orion Travelers universe. This will be a source of lore drops for anything that takes place in the setting, the primary document of canon.
The majority of the lore takes place in the Orion Spur, the region of the Milky Way that includes Earth.
Although I wouldn't call it super-hard Science Fiction, it does aim to be a little bit on the harder end than settings like Trek and Babylon 5 with a bit less technobabble. It'll aim to get a lot closer to the various tropes in science fiction but try to have it make a bit more sense, while still leaving room for all the plots people have come to enjoy from their sci-fi.
This "comic" should be read by anyone wanting to make a story in the Orion Travelers universe, or those who just want to get some backround lore on some other comics various authors and artists have created in the setting.
If you're reading this, you're already approved to make "low canon" content for Orion Travelers. Just follow the license agreement (it will be shown in the first few pages of this "comic"), and you're good to go.
