We are judged and slandered, such a stupid double-standard,
And so this poem is written in with rage.
We are:
Glued-to-screens
Entitled
Noncommittal
Expensive
Rude
Attention-seeking
Temperamental
Ignorant
Obnoxious
Naive
Zealot
It's a funny thing, this big misunderstanding,
Because we will be the last ones standing.
Millenials and boomers: they taught us it all,
So I find it funny that their hearts are so small.
They taught us to read, to write, to feel,
And yet they hand to us our death-row-meal.
I can't stand here any longer allowing such shame,
To be placed at the feet of those not to blame.
It's not our fault that we're given a screen,
Before the time we even turn sixteen.
It's not our fault that standards are rising,
When adults tell us what they're advising.
How can you blame us for the growth of AI,
When you where the ones who left us to die.
How can you say that we're dumb and naive,
When you left us a wasteland that we need to greive.
Don't tell me I'm stupid, don't tell me I'm wrong,
When GenZ's where the ones who got stringed along.
We will fix up your hate we will fix up your mess,
But only because you gave us this stress.
The world is filled with seperation, hate, and violence: it's something us people have done to ourselves. Older generatons like to tell us Gen Z's that we are 'woke' or that we're 'naive' and 'ignorant,' but at the end of the day we are the most aware generation so far. We need to fix global warming. We need to save countries from famish. We need to protect those in war. We need to diversify our nations. We need to learn how to accept. We need to learn how to love. And most importantly, we need to learn how to coexist as one group of people: humanity.
A collection of poems that lingers in the space between beauty and breaking. This anthology explores the quiet ache of growing up, the sharp edges of society, and the strange tenderness hidden inside ordinary moments. It is about the world as it is, flawed, breathtaking, overwhelming, and the people who are simply trying to survive inside it.
