Our Love Our Respect

Chapter 20 — A Love That Finally Felt Real

Chapter 20 — A Love That Finally Felt Real

Jun 01, 2026

Morning arrived slowly.

Soft sunlight slipped through the apartment curtains while rainwater still rested quietly on the balcony railings from the previous night.

Inside the apartment—everything felt different now.

Not awkward.

Not uncomfortable.

Just… softer.

Closer.

Real.

Ploy woke up first.

For several quiet seconds, she simply lay there staring at Ananya sleeping beside her on the couch beneath the blanket they accidentally shared through the night.

Messy hair.

Peaceful face.

One hand still loosely holding hers even in sleep.

Ploy’s chest tightened emotionally.

Because suddenly—the reality of last night returned fully.

Their first kiss.

Their confessions.

The way Ananya touched her so gently afterward like love itself was something fragile and precious.

God.

Ploy had never felt this emotionally safe with anyone before.

—

Carefully, trying not to wake her, Ploy brushed a strand of hair away from Ananya’s face softly.

But Ananya stirred slightly anyway.

Slowly opening her eyes.

The moment their eyes met—both immediately became shy.

Ploy laughed weakly first.

“Well… this is emotionally embarrassing.”

Ananya instantly covered part of her face with the blanket.

“Oh my god.”

Ploy burst into soft laughter.

“You’re hiding?”

“I can’t look at you right now.”

“Why?”

Ananya groaned dramatically from behind the blanket.

“Because we kissed.”

Ploy smiled helplessly.

“Yes. I remember. My heartbeat also remembers.”

That answer made Ananya laugh shyly despite herself.

The nervousness slowly melted into warmth again.

Ploy gently pulled the blanket away from Ananya’s face.

“There you are.”

Ananya looked at her quietly.

And suddenly—the teasing faded again.

Emotion returned.

Ploy’s smile softened immediately.

“You okay?”

Ananya nodded slowly.

“Just overwhelmed.”

“Good overwhelmed?”

Ananya looked at their still-intertwined fingers before smiling faintly.

“The happiest kind.”

That sentence entered Ploy’s heart like sunlight.

Warm.

Gentle.

Healing.

—

Later that morning, they stood together in the kitchen making coffee quietly.

The atmosphere between them kept changing between shy laughter and soft emotional silence.

Every accidental touch suddenly felt more meaningful now.

Every glance lasted slightly too long.

At one point, Ananya reached for a mug at the same time as Ploy.

Their hands touched lightly.

Both froze immediately.

Then laughed again.

“This is ridiculous,” Ananya muttered shyly.

Ploy leaned against the counter grinning.

“You’re cute when flustered.”

“You’re enjoying this too much.”

“Absolutely.”

Ananya rolled her eyes while trying to hide her smile.

But Ploy noticed everything.

Always noticing everything.

—

A little later, they carried their coffee onto the balcony.

Bangkok looked fresh after the storm.

The morning air cool and peaceful around them.

For once—life felt quiet.

No family calls.

No pressure.

No fear.

Just this.

Ploy leaned against the railing softly.

Then suddenly spoke quietly:

“Last night scared me.”

Ananya looked at her immediately.

“The kiss?”

Ploy nodded slowly.

“Not because I didn’t want it.”

Her fingers tightened slightly around the coffee cup.

“Because it made everything feel more real.”

Silence settled between them gently.

Ananya understood exactly what she meant.

Before—they could still pretend this was temporary.

Confusing.

Maybe avoidable.

But now?

Their hearts had crossed something impossible to deny.

And somehow—that truth felt both beautiful and terrifying.

Ananya stepped closer slowly.

Standing beside her.

Shoulders touching softly.

Then quietly—

“Do you regret it?”

Ploy turned immediately.

“No.”

Too fast.

Too honest.

That answer alone nearly made Ananya emotional again.

Ploy smiled softly afterward.

“I think I’m just realizing how deeply I’ve already fallen in love with you.”

The world became silent for Ananya after hearing that.

No traffic.

No wind.

No city noise.

Only heartbeat.

Ploy looked nervous suddenly.

“I know that sounded intense.”

“It did.”

“I can become less emotional if necessary.”

Ananya laughed softly.

“Please don’t.”

Their eyes met again.

And this time—neither looked away first.

—

After several peaceful moments, Ploy suddenly spoke again:

“What are we now?”

Ananya blinked.

“What?”

Ploy tried to sound serious.

“Official relationship discussion.”

“You sound like a business meeting.”

“This is emotionally important administration.”

Ananya laughed helplessly.

Then after a moment—she smiled softly.

“You really need labels?”

Ploy thought quietly before answering.

“No.”

Then gently—

“I just want to know if I’m allowed to call you mine.”

The sentence hit Ananya’s heart with dangerous softness.

Allowed.

Not claimed.

Not demanded.

Asked.

Respectfully.

Always respectfully.

Tears immediately gathered in her eyes again.

Ploy groaned dramatically.

“There they are. The tears.”

“You speak too beautifully.”

“That sounds like a you problem.”

Ananya smiled through emotion before slowly taking Ploy’s hand again.

Warm fingers.

Safe warmth.

Then softly—

“Yes.”

Ploy blinked once.

“Yes?”

Ananya nodded shyly.

“You can call me yours.”

For one silent second—Ploy looked completely overwhelmed.

Then suddenly she laughed quietly while covering her face.

“Oh no.”

“What?”

“I think I might cry now too.”

Ananya burst into laughter.

And beneath the soft Bangkok morning sunlight—two hearts that spent so long surviving fear finally gave their love something simple and beautiful:

A place to belong.
