The God I Follow

The God I Follow

Feb 22, 2026

TW: Religious references and religious questioning. Wondering the legitimacy of God and Jesus. Idolising internal Gods.

The God I follow isn’t someone who stares from the clouds,

A man with no heart only loving repenting crowds.

The God that is preached and celebrated in church,

Is the same God who blamed freedom for questioning his perch.

It’s the same God who hates women and queer people alike,

The one who segregates differences after breaking one strike.

Theres no way to tell if He is real or not,

Only a book to read, treated like the jackpot.

At the end of the day hell is the place,

For people who want to achieve what they chase.

Because if you don’t follow Jesus, and don’t pray to God,

Then suddenly they treat you like a stupid, dumb fraud.

Maybe all I want is my own self and mind,

Without society trying to say I am blind.

The God that I want, and the God that I need,

Isn’t one who hates people, there’s no message to breed.

Maybe the man in the sky isn’t who you think,

Maybe he cares about all and doesn’t hate the colour pink.

Maybe he lets people love whoever the hell that they please,

Without his screaming and torture being heard through the breeze.

My God doesn’t send people down from the church,

People who like to yap about the great Jesus search.

He doesn’t force people to be someone that they’re not,

Because if we’re all made in his image, we won’t be treated like rot.

The God that I love and the Jesus that saved me,

Can’t be the same people as someone who hates me.

They can’t say I’m wrong, say I’m a such disgrace,

When the guilt you feel is all over your face.

If the bible says love and courage beats all,

They why is it questioned when humans want to brawl?

Why can’t we live in prosperity together,

Without the judgement of a man we can’t see for the better.

Remember that its been over two-thousand years,

Since a man walked on water and dried all your tears.

Maybe the truth is that Mark woke up from dream,

And John wrote a story about a conflicting team.

Matthew could have been a lying old slag,

And Luke followed along because he wanted to brag.

Theres no way to tell if the stories true,

So why waste your life when no one knew?

And so the God that I follow isn’t written down,

He doesn’t ask for repentance, doesn’t force you to bow.

He loves everyone equally without question or shame,

As long as you love in your heart, you can be happy with your name.
