Alex ponders as he stares into the sensors of Zyphon's faceplate. Why did it speak now... it looks at him and goes back to watching the window. He remembers it can read his ... mind... somehow. "How can you--" Zyphon interrupts, "Because we are linked." Their voice is in the tone of a humming feminine synth. She speaks sternly but with a hint of flutter. Soft and elegant yet not to be confused with innocence. Alex retracts his shoulders a bit in a loss of words. Still, at ease with his newfound friend, he has a better chance at escaping this ground and to the stars. He does think for a moment, though... will he miss these people?
Seff and Elk sit somewhat apart from eachother but talk happily in a conversation regarding their favorite fruit. Elkhra looks over to Alex, somewhat heated at his presence, and back to Seff as they weren't looking. Akhmin is fumbling with books he didn't read while Riddik watches him trying not to recoil from the blunt jerking he has of the pages. Instead, he tries going back to writing down in a ledger some items he needs to obtain from the stores in Talann. Achiin is found up in Riddik's bed sound and fast asleep, his foot twitching from the odd dreams he must be having.
Riddik gets up and puts the ledger in his desk. "Okay everyone are we ready to leave?" Akhmin looks at the others and then back at Riddik, putting up the book and strapping it in like it's fragile. He nods at Riddik as he returns with a grin of respect from his gesture of consideration. "Okay... You all may rest and I will get us there overnight..." Akhmin smiles at this, feeling like he won't have to worry about Alex's run in with the chiro corpses. He can't stop his curiosity, though. He crosses his arms and falls asleep on the fluffy pillowed seat next to the bookcase.
As everyone is getting tired, Alex stays awake. Time passes as everyone is fully asleep. Zyphon and Alex stay staring at the windows. Lights from passing oil lamps on the trail flicker and wave as the carriage moves on the slightly staggering trail. Alex starts to hear whispers again... this time of other beings. These weren't the same voices from before... these voices were far more plentiful and farther in between. They'd pass just as the light in the windows did, as if they were passing through the mobile home itself. Ghosts...
Zyphon looked at Alex as it, too, heard the noises. "Do not be afraid. These are merely anomalies... they haven't been put to rest." Alex looks at Zyph, again, curious. "What are anomalies?" The little scorpion bot looks at him and displays some information in his iris rather than explaining for the sake of the others' content sleeping. They speak within his mind instead. "The anomalic presence of dissonant souls, helplessly wandering the plain in which they inhabit. Their souls are tethered to still-existant corpses or even material they passed to after their body degraded or fell away."
Alex gives a degree of sympathy towards this information. "That sounds awfully sad." Zyphon replies, "It is not too upsetting. Souls reincarnate happily across the cosmos until they arrive for their next vessel in the Hypnagogiac Sphere." Alex's eyes light up from this information. Zyphon continues, "Although... some may stay adrift, ever-longing for that day to come. These souls... are called 'anomalies'. This is because they haven't been able to pass on. They are lost, forgotten. All souls are anomalies but when they are stuck in one place for too long..." Zyphon looks at Alex directly, "This information will further be introduced to you once you meet The Artificer..."
Alex's heart jumps at the name "The Artificer". This meant... "The Creator". This also wasn't the name he was given for his leader, his boss. What other names define this being? Very curious. "The Artificer..." he ponders on that name for quite some time. His mind still flickering the vision of that owl-like mask, the claws. He wonders if it was in danger at the time. He also thinks about Achiin's special new ability... did it come from him? He understands to an extent what his abilities pertain to, but his body can only do it so often. "I wonder if I could teleport... again." Zyphon stops Alex quickly. "I wouldn't try that just yet. Wait until we descend." Alex quits his focus on that subject and nods. "Ok..."
Alexander looks up again at the window. He thinks yet again of the color fuschia and feels his pants pocket. His finger gets poked by a thorn. Glowing purple seems to have smeared on his thumb. No mark, no wound is visible. He takes the object out. A couple of petals fall from it. His eyes open wide. A single tear drops from his left eye as he's seen crying without expression. A rose in almost perfect condition. Who gave him this... He looks at the purple plum glow on his finger as it disappears, absorbing into his skin. He holds his chest, closing his eyes and frowning. He cannot remember a thing and yet... the feeling... it fills his heart. "This... somehow doesn't make sense to me..." he thinks a moment about his memories. "Isn't it supposed to?" Zyphon simply sits next to him, retracted into its compact form of hibernation. They are unaware of what he is saying as they are now in sleep mode. Alex looks up one more time at the window as he thinks he sees the shadow yet again and blinks with no trace in sight. The tears cease as he puts the flower back in its place and he lays down.
A darkness surrounds his vision. A whisper echoes. A feminine voice he once heard a night ago... "Alex..." The woman's face, obscured but slightly visible, meets his gaze. All fades again. Nothing more resides within this dream. All falls silent yet again.
