The next day at work, Taiyo recounted his plan to Tomo in another clandestine bathroom meeting.
“So let me get this straight, so you want to bring both of them to Osaka.”
“Yep.”
“Without the other knowing?” Tomo said while crossing his pointed fingers.
“Exactly.”
“Don’t see how that can fail, go for it.”
“See now that’s a supportive friend right there, instead of the guy who gave my address to Subaru.”
“What do you want from me?”
“Not to give my address to Subaru.”
“Look I tried to set you up with her, and you bailed. Then I tried to help you out with The Boss, and you think she’s not that bad…how was I supposed to know you were also stringing along Tsuki and had a very real, very digital woman staying at your apartment?”
“I’m not stringing along Tsuki.” Taiyo said with a twinge of anger.
“Ok man, no need to get mad at a humble friend in service of your search for romance.”
“If anything you’ve been a hindrance to my romance.”
“So you admit you like Hoshi more than Tsuki?”
“No, I didn’t say that.”
“So you like Tsuki more than Hoshi.”
“I didn’t say that either.”
“Wow, this Osaka trip is gonna be one hell of an entertaining show then. Mind if I tag along, and possibly bring Subaru. That way if you flame out with both, you can have a 3rd option.”
“Did you ever realize you speak of women like they’re possessions, and maybe that’s why you’re eternally single?”
“Hey, I’m just picky. I’m not objectifying anyone.”
“Sure, that’s the reason.”
“Don’t judge how I go about my romantic life, Mr. I’ve-got-3-women-into-me-at-the-same-time.”
“Sounds like you’re jealous.” Taiyo said in a slyly.
“Jealous of you? No way, I’m Tomo Nakahara…The Chuo Ward Casanova.” he said with his chest out.
“With charisma like that, maybe you’re in the wrong business. You should run a dating service.” Taiyo said sarcastically.
“You think so, I mean I’d do great in commercials. But seriously Tai, if you need me to help you out with this Osaka disaster…I’m available.”
“So you admit you have no dates for the weekend.”
“Hey!”
Tomo and Taiyo shared a laugh, and returned to their cubes. Taiyo sat in front of his computer contemplating the offer.
“Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to have another person available to run interference…hmmmm…”
