MK moved from angry offense to stealth as the thudding sound of the bullets, missiles and what seemed to be artillery slammed into the creature.
MK moved onto the grass to soften their footsteps, and slid sideways. The thing had a human head, so hopefully it had human vision too, MK thought as they shifted into what might or might not be its blind spot.
The creature shifted its body through the impacts and the explosions, and cast its eyes into the distance.
Wait, Oh Sh-
It locked not onto the battleship in the distance, or one of the tanks that were just starting to crest in the distance.
But instead, on some soldiers nearby with rifles.
As the beast lowered down and started scrambling towards them, ready to rip them apart, MK froze.
This was stupid, this would lose MK any opportunities that they were looking for to take, and would put MK back into danger to save.
But MK remembered the noises underground.
MK remembered the silence, and the blood on the creatures pincers and teeth.
No, not happening, not when MK can stop it.
MK abandoned any form of stealth, going from standing to a full sprint at a speed that would make an Olympic sprinter blush in envy.
The creature was almost upon the soldiers, who were starting to realize that their death was fast approaching.
But MK was faster.
Crossing the distance, MKs clawed hands grasped the beasts tail, and the dug in heels stopped the thing in its tracks.
MKs muscles screamed as the weight of the entire creature pulled against them. But the soldiers were able to scuttle back, moving away from the gnashing pincers of death.
Earth is invaded by giant, nigh-invulnerable alien monsters.
To fight them, the government transfers a digitized human mind into the body of an Invader.
