The next day, Goose and Lyla went out together, but instead of talking about each other or doing something romantic, Lyla went on and on about her theories and fantasies about Zirc and Peony. Goose then told her disappointingly that nothing was going on and even had proof, which was a chat he had where he asked Zirc about it. Zirc denied by giving him the puking emoji and even saying that when they hang out together, he has to be on his toes to ensure the bomb doesn't explode. Zirc adds that they didn't watch the movie together cause he knew that Goose would show this to Lyla, so he wrote: “Lyla, if you're reading this, then Goose is a good boyfriend but a terrible friend, but he is the only friend I got, so beggars can't be choosers. Also, I know you'll be reading this cause I know both of you well enough, so listen up to answer your question, no, I didn't watch the movie with Peony, and no, whatever fantasies you cooked up are not coming true, so STOP IT!! You know her; she is literally shouting at me, complaining about how bothersome you've been. Yes, we talk on the phone a lot, but only cause I happen to like the same kinds of movies and some comic books as her, but THAT'S ALL! AND AGAIN I ITERATE, BEGGARS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS”
*Damn, I know it's a message, but even I'm getting mixed messages.* Lyla was stunned and continued her fantasies, but she focused on Goose. She started complimenting him on how good a boyfriend he was, but then the tone changed. She was still complimenting him, but Goose was feeling mix feeling cause the tone was sweet. Gradually, he started feeling guilty. He stopped Lyla and asked her if he had done something wrong. She told him that he should apologize to Zirc, but then thanked him for being with her cause she got some accidental tea. They continued their date, and Goose went home feeling confused cause he just had the most confusing date of his life.
Goose was still bewildered by his last date and called Zirc. He wanted to tell him everything that went down, but Zirc, upon answering the call, asked in an annoyed voice: “You showed her our chat, didn't you?” Goose, in a guilty and sad tone, replied: “Yes”, and continued to explain what went down. Zirc took Lyla's side and told him, “Serves you right”, he continues by telling Goose that he shouldn't have shown their chat messages but also complimented him in a cute, mocking voice on how wonderful a boyfriend he was. Zirc ended the call by telling Goose to stop bragging about having a girlfriend and how lucky he was to have one, using a crying voice to say how he wanted one as well, but women either run away or treat him as a friend, and it never goes anywhere from there. Goose again was bewildered; he had never thought that his girlfriend and best friend would react the same way, but most of all, Zirc was talking about relationships. In the nine years he’s known Zirc, he has not once talked about girls or about wanting a girlfriend. He was in shock because of how the events had just unfolded and thought back on what they had talked about. He looked deflated and felt like the wind could blow him away. He asked himself: “Am I a bad friend, a bad boyfriend, or both?”.
