One day, In the hideout, 

“Bro…we need to talk”, Light said.

“What is it?”, Luca asked whilst reading or rather trying to read a book. 

“It’s about your…companion”, Butterouse continued.

“Hmm? You mean Marie?”

[Seriously, she didn’t do anything]

“Yeah…I think…you should tell her bro”, Light said.

“Tell her what?”

The three of them looked at each other with a concerned look.

[Don’t tell me, is it because of-]

“Guys, if it’s about having a girl in the hideout, is it really so wrong?”

“NO NO, it’s not that”, Light said. 

“She’s scary- I mean totally a nice person”

[You know I can hear you right?]

“But…sometimes she just appears out of nowhere just to try and find you”, Light said.

“Yeah yeah, One moment we were just going here and the suddenly…she appears”

[I mean, yeah she surprised me to, but I don’t see the harm]

“Yeah she can be odd, but she just wants to help me, guys”  

“Well…we think there is something more than that”, Light said. 

[What’s more?]

Luca then smirked. 

“Guys, what more? yeah she is a genius, but I don’t think she has any ulterior motives.

Their faces squirmed. 

[Seriously, these three are always assuming and getting into trouble]

Bon then suddenly stood up.

“BON CAN’T HOLD IT, BRO SHE LI-”

Light and Butterouse then lunged at him and covered his mouth.
“DON’T SAY IT OUT LOUD!”, Light said. 

“BRO HAS TO FIGURE IT OUT!”, Butterouse said.

“Figure out what?”, Luca asked.

[Seriously…always something with these guys]

He then laughed.

[Just because she’s a bit odd, ain’t mean they have to make a big deal about this] 

Bon then threw them to the side. 

“BRO!”

“Hmm?”

“SHE LIK-”

Suddenly, the three of them stopped. 

Their eyes widened.

“What is it?”, Luca asked.

He then noticed a shadow looming over him.

“Oh, Marie, What took you so long?” 

“I was just grabbing some books”, Marie said with a soft smile on her face. 

[Huh, diligent as always] 

Luca closed the book he was reading.

“So, what spell are we trying today?”

“Can you show me that combination again? The blinding one? I can’t seem to adjust the output as well as yours” 

“Gladly, but I am sure mine aint that great” 

They then went out. 

The three delinquents were still shaking in their boots.

Outside…

Luca opened his palm. A couple of magic circles appeared on top.

“I suggest you close your eyes,  Marie”

“I know”

Both of them closed their eyes. 

He then clapped.

A burst of light shined bright. 

The light then subsided.

“Interesting, so you reduced the duration and use more mana to increase the output, fascinating”

“Well, more or less, I felt like if I was just making light, maybe I could just adjust the brightness a bit?”

“I see…But why the fire magic?”

“Oh…umm, I just thought like Fire makes light so if i combine both, a burst may happen? Honestly, I don’t know if that makes sense”

“Hmm, interesting” 

She then opened her palms and she clapped her hands, causing a bright flash.

“Woah, that’s pretty bright”

The magic then subsided.

“Yeah, but it’s not as surprising as yours”

[But…it still looks cool when she does it]

“It still looks cool though”

“oh..”, She said as she averted her gaze. 

“Actually, I want to try that wind spell we read, “Fly”.  Can you show me?“

She then looked back at him.

“Oh, okay”, she said. 

She closed her eyes.

Magic circles appeared on her legs and she started floating.

Luca’s eyes widened in awe.

“Focus your magic on your legs and imagine using “gust” on it”

Luca couldn’t avert his eyes. 

[She looks so cool] 

“Luca? why are you staring at me like that?”

“OH, it’s nothing”

Luca closed his eyes.

[Gust…so like…light foot…but maybe lighter?]

He clapped his hands.

He could feel his body lighter, yet he could barely float. 

[Okay…gust…gust…gust]

He gritted his teeth.

“Calm down, Luca”, she said as he held his hand. 

She continued, “Feel the breeze around you”

[Light…okay…]

His body started floating farther from the ground

“Open your eyes, Luca”

He opened his eyes, seeing a smile on her face.

He looked down. They were both flying

[I…I AM FLYING]

“You did it, Luca” 

“I…I did it, I DID IT!” 

He then flew slightly higher, exploring the sky he never thought he could touch. 

[This is sooo COOL!]

[Good job human] 

[Thank you, WAIT….DID YOU JUST-]

He then hit a tree. 

“OW”, He said as he scratched his head. 

"Be careful, Luca”, Marie said as she let out a laugh. 

Luca then looked up. 

[Huh…from afar…it looked so cool] 

He then flew higher, seeing a familiar scene, but…slightly different now.

[But…like this feel like I am a part of it]

He extended his hand to one of the stars in the sky, yet nothing could be grabbed. 

Luca sighed.

“You know, stars are out of our world right?”

Luca laughed.

“Yeah, I know, but…i feel like I could just…grab them you know” 

She stood beside him. 

“You’re an oddball, Luca”

“Well, I just do what I can”, he said.

[Actually…how do I even get down-]

Suddenly, Luca felt a slight headache.

His vision was blurred.

HIs breathing hastened.

[What’s…happenening-]

He closed his eyes in exhaustion.  

“Luca!”

Marie grabbed him before he could fall.

“You used too much mana, let’s get you down”

She dropped him on the soft ground. 

He was breathing slowly, trying to catch his breath.

“That…was…awesome”

Marie then chuckled.

“Was it awesome to have mana sickness?”

“Hey, It’s…part of it, right?”, he said with a smile. 

“I guess it is” 

Unbeknownst to them, three boys from the hideout were saluting their brother.
