Translation from the Dutch verses on this page:

The background patterns for the closeups are copied after backgrounds in Van Maerlants 'Der Naturen Bloeme', a medieval manuscript from about the same era as the song. The manuscript mainly contains drawings of all species that were thought to exist at the time (which are hilarious), but theres also a weird drawing of a skull, which background I copied for the murderer.
