Invincible Maru: From Fragile Unto Unbreakable

Onto Envy Peaks (1.1)

Onto Envy Peaks (1.1)

Jul 06, 2026

The father brings the boy anyway, despite the mother's disapproval and contempt. But still, despite her objection, priority is still priority, regardless of what the outcome is.
( Days after. )
Mr. Kent takes Maru in his car, a "BMW 7 Series E38". A car he bought by himself after years working as a senior accountant in a game company at that time. The location they're after is Envy Peaks, a region in Trinia far away from their house in Pride Capital.
Mr. Kent drives, wearing his Hugo Boss jacket; he enjoys driving by himself despite his wife constantly telling him to use a driver from her family, but he refuses. As he drives, he tells Maru, who wears a black formal suit, everything about him, just a small father-son talk.
" Namco…? " Maru asks as Mr. Kent tells about the company he worked.
" Yes, the game company that makes the Pac-Man arcade machine in your room. Don't forget that Atari console (Atari 2600), where you play Ghostbusters, is now under Namco as well. " Mr. Kent tells Maru some adult things, like company acquisition or stuff.
" Let's just say the company continues its production under another company. Just think it like that, I'm still figuring out how to explain it to you. " Mr. Kent speaks so confused, still formulating how to explain the world of work to a five-year-old.
( Maru sees Mr. Kent in confusion. )
"( I really don't understand… )" Maru tells himself as he then decides to say something.
" Father, Dad, I've been playing a game called 'Final Fantasy VI' from Square (Square Enix) in my SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System), the one you said was a gift from a friend in another gaming company.
The game is about role playing, it allows you to do something called… "
" Level Up? After gathering many XPs? " Mr. Kent interrupts the kid.
" What? " Maru gets surprised.
" I know, it's always been like that after the first game in 1987. Two years before you were born. " To think they already launched a sixth game by now, guess I really need to check the progress… " Mr. Kent tells Maru.
" But still, there's the matter of your training. I need to focus on your preparation. " Mr. Kent sighs.
" Especially after that big banquet back then, that Blue Blood Banquet in June, where some kids decided to pick up on you. " Mr. Kent sighs, remembering the moment he beats not only the kids who take on his little son but their parents as well.
" Husband, stop! " his wife tried to stop him at the time, but the damage was done as Mr. Kent brutally beat those Blue Blood Families with his sheer strength, beating them before they could activate their Gift Powers or do anything.
" If it were not for my Martial Arts, the fight would certainly be prolonged and ended up having me experience their Gift Powers. Luckily, I understand some acupoints and some anatomy stuff, allowing me to hit them where it hurts. " Mr. Kent tells.
" So you 'spell cancel' them during your ATB (Active Time Battle)? " Maru asks, remembering the Final Fantasy VI game mechanic that sometimes allows a spell to be cancelled during the game's Time Battle.
" Your Father here basically wins before the battle starts. " Mr. Kent tells Maru as he drives. The journey takes hours as they have to go to the Greed Central first, the economic region in Trinia, whilst Pride Capital is the governmental region. In there, Mr. Kent brings Maru to many restaurants, some oriental and Middle Eastern food.
" You're too young to eat Junk food; most of it is junk food. Eat traditional food first. " Mr. Kent tells his son for his own good. Some kebab made from real meat, Mr. Kent wants Maru to eat it so he can build up his strength.

His mother could freeze an army with her blizzard. His father carelessly broke thousands barehanded before breakfast.
So when their son was born without a single drop of power between them passed down to him — no Gift, no Aura, not even a god willing to claim him — the world called it impossible.
His mother called it a disgrace.
Mark "Maru" Kent was a five-year-old child rejected by every divine power in existence. Too frail to survive on strength alone, too unwanted to stay home, he's sent to the one place where there's the only hope he could become stronger — the hidden Realm of Murim, where fists are forged, not gifted.
"I want my son to become strong, no matter what." -- Maru's father.
This is the origin of the man the heavens forgot to bless — and the one thing in this universe that power itself couldn't buy.
