[IMPORTANT] When I first designed those pages, I had not yet read much about racist portrayal, and looking back, I'm sorry to say that a number of portrayals here (especially Chalk) tick a number of boxes.
Tl;dr: I'm very sorry and I hope y'all can take a moment to read the long answer.
The long answer is... I should have done more research. I treated this webcomic as a fun project and while it's okay in private to have fun, when making the choice to publish online, we have to be a lot more careful about the impact of what we share. The repetition of harmful portrayal can be very damaging to people, and while I knew this, while I tried to be careful about what I did, I yielded to arrogance and assumed I knew more than I did.
I also understand that I was alone to work on this series, did not have editors or anyone to review my work, and that's a lot of pressure to put on just one person trying to tell the best story they can (and do the art, and do the promo, etc). Webcomics aren't meant to be perfect. But as I learn from my mistakes, I hope I can share this experience with you all.
If you would like to learn more about this topic, I recommend this short and well-written article, authored by a native American and former WoW player:
