The Fallen Betrayer

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Jul 15, 2026

Bridgette approached the authorities and told them that while she was at a booth, she noticed them flying towards the old, abandoned academy. The authorities quickly rushed to the crime scene along with the parents to search for the three boys.

"The thing is, the bodies are there, but their souls are missing. Once they locate their bodies, finding their souls will be tough because they’re in the demon kingdom," Bridgette thought to herself with a smirk as she watched the authorities and parents head off.

She then turned to Marvin's parents and said, "It's not my issue to handle, but someone who had a tip needed to inform the authorities, right? Anyway, let’s head home; I feel like this festival has really worn me out. "You’re right, Bridgette; it is getting late, and the academy classes start in just two days. Tomorrow, we need to go shopping for your uniforms and check out the academy where you’ll be going with Marvin," Marvin's mom replied.

Marvin's parents, Marvin, and Bridgette all got into the car and drove back to the house. Once they got home, everyone fell asleep to recharge for the busy day ahead.

In the demon kingdom, Komoku observes the events that took place today.

"Who would have thought my little Lilith could go to such lengths? I'm really proud of her. Amon, you should take a lesson from her. "Father, seriously, do we have to start this favoritism again?" "What? Did I upset you?" "Yes, you always do whenever you get the chance." Well, you need to pick up something new. "

Komoku and Amon bickered back and forth until the half-siblings Ria and Shay approached the demon lord for a brief interruption. "Um, Mr. Komoku, I have a question to ask." "Yes, Ria, what’s your question?" "I was curious if you could teach us, or rather show us, how to deal with the 3 unknown souls that were brought here a few hours ago." "Ah yes, I could show you, but if I were in your shoes, I would ask Blaze. He can guide you through the process better than I can." "Thank you, sir; we will ask Blaze about it," Shay responded.

Ria and Shay walked away from Komoku and found Blaze reviewing the tasks that needed to be completed for the day. Blaze had just finished going over the tasks when he noticed Ria and Shay approaching him.

"May I assist you?" asked Blaze, looking puzzled. "Since you're the soul leader, maybe you could show us how to manage the 3 unknown souls that were brought here a few hours ago. Komoku mentioned that you're much better at this than he is," Shay replied. "Ah sure, I can show you how it’s done. "By any chance, are you two new to this job, or have you been here before?" asked Blaze.

"Our leader moved us here instead when we trained the 3 new demon girls from years ago. You could say we got replaced by them," Ria explained. "No worries about your situations; you're more than welcome to stay with me. Come, let me show you everything you need to know about being part of the soul staff," Blaze instructed.

Ria and Shay followed Blaze through a large door that opened into a maze walkthrough. Only soul staff were permitted to enter, so Blaze took the time to explain everything to the other staff members. Once that was sorted out, Blaze told both of them to put on their uniforms and take notes during the walkthrough to help them remember everything.

"The toughest part about being a soul staff member is dealing with new souls who might act aggressively towards you. If they do start acting out, use your powers to set them straight. In this kingdom, the soul leader is in charge, so if any new souls become a problem, just let me know and I’ll handle it. The three unknown souls are actually angels; their names are Frederick, James, and Giovanni. Welcome to the demon kingdom, where your souls will be kept here forever. Every soul that arrives here gets a new name. Giovanni, your new name will be Jesse; James, you’ll be Idris; and Frederick, you’ll be Ryder. You will need to follow your schedule and complete tasks to please the kingdom and the demon lord. If any of you disagree with the rules or the schedule, you’ll face severe punishment from me, Blaze. Now, Ria and Shay will be watching you and recording everything you do," Blaze said before leaving the room.

Ria and Shay stayed behind to observe the three new demon boys as they carried out their tasks.

"Let’s see if they can behave themselves." "From what I’ve seen, they definitely have a lot of malicious tendencies."

In the angel kingdom, sunlight streams through the blinds in Marvin's room. Both Marvin and Bridgette are sound asleep while Marvin's parents are having a quiet argument.

"I thought you were going shopping with me, Marvin, and Bridgette today. What happened to that plan?" Marvin's mom said. "I'm sorry, but work called me in for something, and you know I usually don’t work on Sundays. However, I think they might give me a raise. I promise that once I finish what I need to do, I can meet you at the shopping center or right here before lunch. Just tell me where you are," Marvin's dad replied, giving his wife a kiss.

He then walked out the door, leaving his wife to handle the shopping for the day.

Marvin's mom entered her son's room, turned on the lights, and opened the blinds.

"Good morning, my two little rays of sunshine. Today is going to be a long one. Freshen up and meet me in the kitchen for breakfast," she said as she left the room.

Bridgette was the first to get up and jumped into the shower before Marvin could. While she was showering, Marvin glanced at her notes. "Why does she have these? Was she at the library the whole time during the festival?" Marvin wondered.

Marvin keeps taking her notes and looking at them when he hears the door unlock. "Why are you messing with my stuff?" Bridgette asked. "Sorry, but can I ask why you have these notes?" It's really none of your business to even start. You should learn to keep your hands to yourself next time."

Bridgette snatches her notes back from Marvin and puts them in a cabinet. She turns around and tells him that it's his turn to shower. Marvin heads to the shower still feeling really bad.

Bridgette almost had a panic attack over the notes she had from the library; one of them had a scroll that allowed her to contact the demon kingdom anytime. She needed to be super careful about hiding it before Marvin or anyone else finds out.

Bridgette changed into the clothes she had been wearing since she got here, with a towel on her long, beautiful blonde hair, and went to the kitchen. Marvin’s mom sees her and tells Bridgette to sit in the living room while she goes to get a hairbrush and hair dryer.

"Wow, your hair looks so shiny and healthy and long. Maybe we could get you a trim at the mall. I know a great salon for that." "Thanks for the compliment! I honestly don’t know how my hair got so healthy. It used to be really damaged." "Damaged? No way, sweetheart. By the way, do you have any idea how much you want to cut it for the trim?" "I was thinking about going really short, but I might end up looking like a guy. Maybe just to my shoulders so my wings can show." "That would look great on you. And please, don’t be too hard on my son."

"Did you hear that?" "As a mom, I have this talent for hearing arguments when they’re nearby. I know my son can be, um, difficult, but—" "But maybe you didn’t have enough time to teach him properly. I get it because I was the same way with my mom until she taught me those things, and I improved. Since I’ll be going to the same academy as your son tomorrow, I can help him learn some manners if that’s okay with you." "Absolutely, you have my permission."

Marvin’s mom finished drying Bridgette’s hair. Bridgette thanked her, but then Marvin interrupted.

"Are you done with your bonding time? I’m starving. Mom, didn’t you say we have a long day ahead?" Marvin said angrily. Marvin’s mom confirmed that he was right.
