Soul Stasis - Termigann

|Ep 7| - "Departure"

|Ep 7| - "Departure"

Aug 08, 2026

Seff and Alex walk up to the craft store. As Seff purchases the item, he happily drops the roms in the shopkeeps palm. The store owner is highly ecstatic at the purchase and gives him one extra thing for it. "What's this?" he asks. The salesman explains. "That is for being one of my first customers... I'll be honest... Talann has been a ghost town for quite some time. You see those windows up there? Each and every one is open. It's for airflow. You've seen how hot it's getting right?" He looks at him a bit closer, "Actually wait you aren't from around here are ya... is it bad where you come from too?" Seff makes a slight frown, worried about what's become of the land. "Y-yes..." He looks down at the satchet he was given. It smells of a savory herb. It's something he hasn't experienced before.

Seff brings up some important information to the old shopkeep, "I'm wondering if when we go to Termigann... if we'll find the culprit to this... I've been listening in on some conversations between some individuals in our group... something is wrong down there." The old man thinks, grazing his dark grey feathery beard and speaks again, "Well... I wish you fortune and protection on your journey then, young man..." Seff nods and pockets the small blue wave-patterned pouch in his Hakama-like trousers. The shopkeep closes the paneled gate from above as the two walk out. Alex looks deeply at his own palm. The sunlight hit it in such a way that a peach color began to appear as the shadow dipped from the shudders of the store. He is bothered at how much the guy kept staring him up and down... like he doesn't belong...

After Alex grips his hand into a fist and unclenches his fingers, Seff raises the item he bought. It was a journal. The book had a dark leather cover and a clasp to go with it. A rectangular space was engraved for those who wanted to title it themselves. seff spoke, "This book should be helpful... we're going to immortalize your flower." Alex worries at this. He holds the rose closer to his chest, shaking his head in fear. Seff stares in his eyes for a bit. "Is this... from someone... you... have a flika with?" Alex pauses, unsure of what they mean still. "I don't know..." he says. Seff drops his arm. He thinks a bit more about what he'll ask him. "Hm...how do they make you feel?" As they speak, Alex's heart beats heavier. He feels warmth in his cheeks this time. The thought of the figure's hair... the smile. He can't remember her face but something about them... it's clear it makes him weak. "I... I think I do like them..." Seff thinks about the next and last question. "Are they still alive?" Alex ponders this. He doesn't know. He looks down... a flash of memory of her face appears. That same feeling from the clothing store folds around him. It fades within a couple of seconds but that memory still resides. If he's still attatched to the memory... maybe she is still alive... even if it's in his soul.

Alex hands over the flower to Seff, shaking slightly, anxious about harming it further. Seff takes it gently and lays it down on the parchment, putting it on the ground. Seff takes Alex's hand and looks at him. "We'll do it together..." Alex watches as Seff slowly closes the book. He follows his actions. He watches as each petal gets crushed and closes his eyes, tears rousing at the outer apexes. Seff keeps it clasped afterward and picks it up. "Ok so... this takes some time..." Alex opens his eyes in slits, afraid to look. Seff continues, "It will take around... 16 days" Alex looks up at him and stands. His face is visibly distraught. Seff holds his hand and comforts him. "It's ok. You'll see them again and maybe you'll get another, much more vibrant flower than the last hm?" Alex wipes away the bothersome droplets with his other hand and nods feintly.

Zyphon skitters over to them, Achiin and the others following. Akhmin seems to have gotten the spear he was infatuated with and Nilin holds a small wooden box with a branding on it, the icon of the store. It was two right angled lines striking through a blunted but stylized nail in the form of a T. It seemed to be the start of the blacksmith's name. Akhmin creates a hollow metal noise with his spear's end after stopping. He treats it like a walking stick. He looks even more formidable to Alex now.

Akhmin grunts a bit before speaking. "Hm... I see you now have a book." He takes a moment, scratching his chin, thinking. "You should keep that safe..." Seff nods at this and puts it in his bag. "Don't worry Alex I'll make sure nothing happens to it, ok?" Akhmin turns toward the edge of the town. There's a cliff far ahead with several large pillars of wood and metal. The mechanisms anchor over a clouded ravine of mist. A platform holding a box with ramping is seen readily available for the next passengers. "It looks like it's time..."

As everyone wanders toward the drop point, Nilin walks beside Alex. "We have that missing piece to your outfit. I cannot wait to see it on you!" He happily grins as they travel. It gets a bit darker as they get closer to the edge... the mist is heavy and the clouds are dark. Thunder billows below the surface... Akhmin sees this and abruptly halted. He looks at the workers and goes towards them. "Is the elevator stopped?" One of them looks at him. They reply hesitantly at him taking consideration of his weapon. "U-uh... yes sir they still have it operable but... it is getting nasty down there. It's been storming for quite a couple of days. All with the dryness up here? Just unexpected to say the least..." Akhmin puts the spear on his back. A new holster he bought was placed like a sash around him, easily locking it in place and unlocking when he needed it.

As Akhmin and the worker talk, the others crowded around waiting for the trip. Alex is staring at the spectacular lightshow between each cloud. Nilin wraps the ruff around Alex's neck, tucking it in the front of the vest. He then adds the metallic collarpiece. The ends bend easily to open and close around the wearer. A simple upside down, triangular inset is in the front just as Alex had depicted... coincidence?.. or luck? Tightening the back, it locks and Alex feels it with his hand. As Nilin sets the stone he speaks under his breath. "Perfect..." Seff looks at him and smiles. "That really is fitting for you!" Elkhra rolls his eyes but silently nods anyway. Elk adjusts his head wrap. The wind picks up just a tad in the air. "I think we should go now..." he's starting to feel an eerie way about this storm.

The group steps onto the elevator, each individual slowly but surely making their way across the short bridge toward it. The platform slightly wobbles just inches as people pile on it. Not so much to be afraid of. Although wobbly, the whole thing is stable. It has plenty of room, the walls are lined with hard glass windows and the top is enclosed. The entire architecture of it looks like a fancy floating carriage, a gondola. The windows are barred twice over and circular. There are even seats on this thing. Four poles line the inside for anyone wanting to stand. There's even places to put your things. Akhmin looks at everything, "Nice.", He states. The crew outside is ready to unlock the big capsule. Two large gears slowly start rotating, allowing four thick cables to release and drop with the speed. gently and carefully, it lowers deeper into the clouds. Akhmin realizes they didn't ask for tokens... used to be they needed special tokens to even get on here but whatever is going on in Termigann... must not be important to lock behind any system anymore. "This must really be very bad then... if it's come to this." He thinks.

Silently, a crow atop one of the buildings looks over Alex and the group. They swoop into the clouds, landing on the carriage. As they drop below the weather, it nestles itself roosting in one of the grooved tiles on the roof.

Arc 1 - Aphrodite Part 2

Alexander awakes yet again... renewed of basic memory and operative language cognitivity.

As the Planet becomes more and more familiar on the surface... the whole understanding of life becomes a bit more challenging when the supposed "canines" within Termigann start to run their own little rampancy among the peaceful background of surrounding native villagers.

It's going to be very tricky just to get to where he needs to go... I guess he really will need to waste more time... unless...
