Chapter 9: Exclusive Weapon

Chapter 9: Exclusive Weapon

Jul 24, 2026

Blood flowed from his left chest, dripping onto the ground.

Mr. Williams slowly turned his head, staring in disbelief at Su Lingyan, who was holding a gun.

"My magic is more useful than yours, isn't it?" Su Lingyan walked forward.

The focus of this dungeon was solving puzzles rather than combat, so both battles had been fairly simple.

Or perhaps... there was a route to clear it without fighting at all?

"You..."

"You want to ask why I didn't go to the villa, but appeared here instead? It's simple." Su Lingyan raised her phone. "When we were talking on the phone, you were clearly outside. I could hear cars passing by and people talking constantly. But if you were near your villa, there wouldn't be that much background noise."

Mr. Williams' villa was located in a relatively secluded area, where few cars or people passed by.

"So you were somewhere some distance away from the villa, but in a crowded place. You asked me to come to the villa for a final battle, yet you showed up somewhere far away from it. What were you trying to do? It wasn't hard to figure out."

Naturally, he wanted to lure her away and attack Tina and Hank.

"So I pretended to leave, but secretly followed them the entire time. Sure enough, I found you. If we had really fought at the villa, I probably wouldn't have been able to kill you so easily."

Mr. Williams collapsed to the ground, unable to speak.

"If you're going to do something bad, don't leave such obvious flaws, okay?" Su Lingyan smiled as she raised her gun.

Bang!

"Dungeon cleared. Evaluation: S. Calculating rewards..."

"Your exclusive weapon has been unlocked."

Su Lingyan closed her eyes.

When she opened them again, she found herself in a room with simple furniture, such as a sofa and a table. In front of her stood a transparent hexagonal pillar that immediately caught her attention.

"This is your personal space," the system said in its mechanical voice.

The transparent hexagonal pillar began to glow.

"Your exclusive weapon is stored here. Please claim it."

Su Lingyan didn't immediately check what her exclusive weapon was. Instead, she first opened her inventory and checked her personal status.

There were some of the game's currency items in her inventory, along with three beginner healing potions and one beginner stamina potion.

After reaching level 2, her stamina increased from 100 to 200.

"Now, let's see what my weapon is."

Su Lingyan walked toward the transparent hexagonal pillar.

Inside it floated a sniper rifle and a handgun. The handgun was positioned in front of the sniper rifle, and both were standing upright.

It looked somewhat like...

A clock pointing at twelve o'clock?

Su Lingyan raised her hand and touched the transparent pillar.

The moment she made contact, the pillar disappeared, and the two guns fell into her hands. Their descriptions appeared at the same time.

Exclusive Weapon: Wheel of Time

The sniper rifle is the minute hand, and the handgun is the hour hand. Together, they represent the ruler of time.

What? You're asking where the second hand went? How would I know? Why not just buy a rapier and make one yourself?

"Hmm, is this hinting at a future shop function? But looking at it this way, the second hand should probably be a firearm as well." Su Lingyan continued reading the description.

When using certain skills, stamina is not consumed. Instead, special bullets are used.

There are twelve special bullets in total, shared between both guns. When the number of bullets is below the maximum capacity, one bullet will be restored every hour.

Currently, Wheel of Time has three skills.

Shoot:
Does not consume stamina. Fires a normal bullet from the handgun, dealing damage to the target. The handgun holds six bullets. After all bullets are used, it must be reloaded.

Snipe:
Does not consume stamina. Fires a normal bullet from the sniper rifle, dealing damage to the target.

These two were less like skills and more like the basic functions of the two guns.

The final skill was the one that truly mattered.

Press the Pause Button (Single Target):
After hitting the target, deals heavy damage and causes the target's time to stop for four seconds. If the target is a player or an elite-level enemy or above, the duration is reduced by half. This skill consumes a special bullet. This skill cannot affect the same target again within four seconds after hitting them.

"Interesting. It's a time-type ability, but with a limitation on the number of bullets. That means I need to use every special bullet carefully."

Su Lingyan picked up the sniper rifle.

Her exclusive weapon was quite interesting.

"Let's log out first."

Su Lingyan woke up from the game pod and sat down on a chair.

About forty minutes had passed since she entered the game.

"I thought I was going to miss dinner."

Su Lingyan blinked, then began thinking about what she should eat.

Not long after, Bai Luoyin opened the door.

Seeing Su Lingyan, she said in surprise, "That fast? It's not even been an hour."

"I cleared it with an S-rank evaluation." Su Lingyan held up a V sign.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. That's just like you, the former top student~ I only got a B-rank." Bai Luoyin said.

Su Lingyan had always been among the top students since she was young.

Despite not paying much attention in class, she could still achieve high scores. During university, she once started studying only one week before the final exams and still ended up receiving an academic excellence award.

"Honestly, I think she's already working very hard," one of her roommates said during university.

"Yeah, I usually start reviewing three days before exams," another roommate said.

"I'm the day before. One night, one pen, and I'll create a miracle!" The roommate said passionately.

"And then you failed one course last semester." Bai Luoyin mercilessly exposed her.

"Waaah..." The roommate was struck down, but quickly recovered. "I only failed one course. I'm still amazing."

As for Bai Luoyin, she didn't think she was particularly hardworking either.

However, throughout her four years of university, she had never failed a single course.

"Hehehe, if I remember correctly, this game has both solo mode and team mode. I'll carry you next time." Su Lingyan looked up.

"Who carries who is still undecided!" Bai Luoyin said defiantly.

"Now, can you tell me what your exclusive weapon is?" Su Lingyan asked.

"Of course. But let's go to the training area. It'll be easier to demonstrate."

After the launch of the world’s first full-dive holographic game, Anomalous Zone, countless players flocked into it.

Su Lingyan and her friends were no exception.

With her rare and noble time-based ability, along with her absurdly overpowered performances in various dungeons, she quickly rose through the ranks and became a high-tier player.

However, as she continued playing, she gradually began to notice that something about the game was off.

A mysterious game company background, dungeon invaders that were deliberately concealed yet occasionally exposed, and even skills that could be brought out of the game—everything pointed to the fact that this was far more than just a game.

Just as she began her investigation, a “NPC” with whom she had quite a connection appeared before her.

“Actually, I’m not an NPC,” he said, looking at her. “And this game… is not just a game.”

Su Lingyan smiled faintly.

“I figured as much.”
