Minutes turned to hours turned to days turned to weeks. Then, he awoke. The Professor hadn't had this type of sleep in years. His eyes flickered open green and piercing as ever. With a sigh, he rolled over trying to get back to sleep before realizing the amount of time that had passed.
"Fuck!"
He exclaimed as he bolted into an upright sitting position.
"How long was I asleep, Pendal."
A creaking echo rang out and mechanical whirring that seemed to say…
"Three weeks."
The Professor looked quite shocked by this revelation.
"Three weeks? Three weeks!?"
He shoved himself up off the bed and landed on his feet perfectly. He'd had tons of practice doing this…albeit he wasn't always this graceful.
Walking through the corridors of Pendal was like running a marathon. With every step there was more hesitation and confusion. How could he have been asleep that long? Was he still in a dream? Had he even woken up? All these questions and more ran through his mind as he made his way slowly towards the console room.
His eyes darted from left to right as he quickened his pace. Trying to decipher what the past few days had meant. But nothing came to the Professor's mind. Not yet at least.
After a few minute trek the man found himself in the console room. Heaving a huge sigh of relief. Normalcy, something that never changed, Pendal.
He dragged his hand across the console shaking his head.
"What's wrong with me, Pendal?"
He murmurs under his breath but despite this, his question, was answered anyway.
"Time is dying, Professor. Save it. Do what you do best!"
"I will…you have to trust me on this…"
"I do…"
"Then…what are we waiting for?! Let's save everytime, everyplace, everywhere, and every moment!"
"Time is of the essence!"
"And so, we must make the most of what we have left. Before time's up!"
The Professor grabbing a lever, threw it back. Sending himself and Pendal into the unknown. Into the thick of it…into the unknown.
And once they got there…a pause. A moment to catch themselves aware of the situation at hand. But the Professor broke the silence.
"This whole situation has been a thorn in my side…"
"Professor…I don't think this is where we are supposed to be…"
"And why would you say that. Pen-"
He opened the door…paused briefly, then sighed. Walking out of his ship before quickly collecting himself and getting a good look at his surroundings.
"Ah, a human convention…how interesting- Maybe I should stay in case something is off? Perhaps this is part of the equation? The puzzle, even!"
Pendal whirred but fell silent at the glare from the Professor.
"I will be checking out this convention whether you like it or not, now stay put, and lock your doors…we don't need any humans getting inside and taking off now do we?"
The Professor walked around, pushing through the crowd with mixed responses but he never quite seemed to mind, until he bumped straight into a clown…no jester? Well, whoever it was didn't look too pleased with him.
"Do you have a pass, sir?"
"No…but I am security, see?"
He took out a phone like device, syncing up with the other's mind it showed the clown what he wanted them to see.
"I…see? What is your name? And why aren't you on the list of attendees?"
"I am the Professor…and you are?"
"Mel Encholy…"
"And what convention is this…?"
"More and more suspicious you are…this is DashCon 2!"
The Professor seemed puzzled at first, then nodded. He needed to stay…seems like something was wrong with the timeline. Not only that…he'd get to feed his ego a bit with the fans of his show.
The clown's eyes narrowed as she looked at the curious man in front of him. No way was this the real Professor, right? But they wouldn't argue with fate, yet.
But the Professor soon would speak up splitting the silence in two.
"You're all in danger…grave danger."
The man stated bluntly…a little too bluntly for their liking.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I'm not here to have an off day, if you catch my drift."
"But-"
As the clown began to speak a…strange wind began to whistle through the building. Impossible, yet…here it was happening. The wind began to pick up until it was hard to even hear oneself think. All thanks to whatever had started the destruction of reality itself. Coming to a head in the confines of a small convention…how unfortunate for the lot of them.
The Professor groaned quietly under his breath, shaking his head.
"No way this is the Creator's doing…it must be some other being…"
"What was that?"
"Follow me, clown!"
"My name is-"
They were cut off by an explosion and screams, people running every which way. It was chaos and not the good kind. The two flew through the building towards Pendal. But someone…no something stood between them and the ship. Making it ever more ominous and perhaps more terrifying than it had been only a moment before. The Professor stepped closer to the ship, reaching out his hand towards her as if to offer some kind of comfort. But she hissed in reply as if to say.
"Stay away!"
And despite his wanting to get back to safety the Professor realized that was very much not in his or his new friends best interest. So, he took a step back. Sighing and looking at the person now beside him he tried to figure out what to say…but then was shocked out of his silence by the person asking a simple question but one that definitely deserved to be heard.
"What are we to do, now, Professor?"
"Looks like this is going to be more in depth and far more dangerous than I envisioned."
