Hapseong Sarpionist Deurama

A shattered dream

A shattered dream

Aug 11, 2026

Ok, this is my plan: I'm gonna find my team. Sorry, Dilka, I need my own kin.

After two weeks of publications in the world, announcements, and posters to create his own team, he finally got some proposals.

The first team were local youngsters, a group of 4 people; Jeongin asked some questions about their equipment, powers, skills, names, and more. The team asked him about their powers, and when Jeongin said he was working without any born power, they laughed.

‘Ok, probably… ahm…. Don't have po-wers guys, but, but look..." He shows his equipment.

‘How can you expect to become a sarpionist without any power? You shall be dead in the first fight.’

‘Yes, at least, can you know some magic or other useful skill?’

‘Exactly, what do you do? Many people here can learn it or achieve it; you are not special, man.’

Jeongin felt a gap in his heart, a disease that was spreading in his body, and his mouth was trembling; he tried to express something, but his mind was in shock, like a stone, and his first thought was, “I'm a failure."

‘Go-go-ple… please.’

"Look, man, you should warn about this in your poster before, bye.’

The next time arrived in one hour; Jeongin was humming melodies of N-pop in his head, trying to remain calm and be professional when the next time arrived.

The next group finally came, and Jeongin was kind, and every time he says hello, he shows his palms to salute.

The same routine was made, and before asking more questions, one of them asked him about his powers.

"Oh," he took a huge sigh. ‘About that, I'm the technician. You know, technology.’

‘How can you be a Sarpionist without any born power or useful skill? You won't live more than 5 minutes in the field; what is more, you cannot be our leader.’

"Yes, thanks, mate, but we passed.’

This time, Jeongin was so depressed he couldn't argue with them; he just sat down on the floor, leaving his life to continue without expression, and his wrist was still blinking.

He felt so lonely and useless, and then in the next auditions, he tried to express his powers at the first meeting to avoid continuing to be disappointed, but the answers were the same or worse. He compared his dream with his broken wrist, and when he was finally alone in his room, he shed a couple of tears; each tear was an effort from his dream, now broken.

So, is this the last change I asked for? My last opportunity, the answers I was looking for, it was already there, but I didn't want to see it; I was born with a failure mark.

The next day.

Someone knocked on the door, but Jeongin was still sleeping around 9 am.

‘Hey! Why didn't you open it?’

‘What? How? How did you enter?’

‘I just entered from the window; it's an old tin, you should change it.’

‘Yes,’ said Jeongin whilst he tried to wake up, but he fell asleep again.

‘Are you ok, Jeo?’

‘Fine.’

‘Ohh, that's perfect, because I wonder if I can join your crew?!’ She said while she showed a hidden poster from her back, holding it with both hands.

Jeongin saw it, but he took a long breath and rolled to the other side of the bed.

‘How was it? ' She said and sat down on the bed.

He continues with a long breath.

‘Come on, Jeongin, or I'm gonna sit down on the floor, looking into your eyes.’

‘I used to think the worst scene I could experience was to disappoint my parents, but as an adult, the worst thing is to see how my dreams are fading.’

‘Dilka, you know how hard I tried, how hard I practiced, and developed my equipment, any damn movement, even my phrases of hero are written in my notes.’

‘There must be something to do, something more.’

‘No, it’s over. I really did think this was all going to be a dream. I did everything I could. I even left home and had a row with my parents.’

‘What can I do? How can I… I cannot return home with this shameful face! They’re going to say, “I told you so.” And they will want me to humiliate myself before accepting my apology. For them, that’s a real apology—humiliation before compassion.’

‘There is no need to blame yourself, Jeongin; probably there is another dream you could imagine. Come on, many people go through this, all the time searching for a dream, a purpose to fight. When they have their reason to live, there is nothing to stop them.’

‘But what can I do if I did everything and even though I failed? The only path is death.’

‘Don't say! Damn bast… no, you are sad, you need to focus on your dreams, no matter what.’

‘No, listen, I have been practicing since I was a kid, and these idiots rejected me; all the teams say the same.’

Dilka remained silent and turned to see something else, thinking, whilst Jeongin was trying to sleep. She was going to stand up, but before that, she stopped, looking at the roof.

‘Jeongin, don't you see? Even destiny works in a way…ahh!! We can't understand; you have the answers in front of you,’ she said with a big smile.

‘What happened?’

‘In other words, it's not your end, even though you don't kill yourself, ok?’

‘Ok, continue.’

‘What I’m seeing is… the destiny wants you to fulfil your dream, but not as you have been expecting.’

‘I don't get it, Dilka, just—'

‘Find other people! Kozhanasyr! Your goal is to be done with other people, foreign people. If you still don't get it, your team won't work with local sarpionist.’

‘I don't know, Dilka, I'm not racist, but… I prefer local people, you know? For the gossips,’ he said and scratched his head in an uncomfortable way.

‘Your dreams are so far from your words… Jeongin, this world, your dream, is written, waiting for you, you know! I know! You're gonna be the best sharpshooter in your country, but you won't get it as you want; that's how it really works on our paths.’

‘Ah…’

‘Come on! Jeongin, you know me, I’m a good shooter.’

‘Yes… but I don't want to kill someone; furthermore, you don't have powers like me.’

‘Fine, I swear I’m not gonna kill someone; just let me change my switch, because I learn to shoot mortally.’

‘What the hel—'

‘And…! About the team, I know some guys who can help us.’

‘Are they from Najoemguk?’

‘No! Jeongin, remember what I told you about destiny paths; they are special.’

‘Special foreign people,’ he said with a long breath.

‘Anyway, what is that smelling of something burned?’

‘Oh, it's just my gadgets.’

‘What happened?’

‘Don't say… any word.’

Dilka stands up, points to Jeonging with her fingers, and expresses: “Perfect, and about the group, just check the communicator, and I shall send you a message when they are ready to meet you.”

‘By the way, we're gonna visit them on foot; I don't like to be observed by public transport. They can listen to us.’

‘The government is not behind us, don't worry, we're good people.’

‘For now.’

5 Days later.

‘Are you sure she's living here?’

‘Yes.’

‘And are you sure… she's going to join us? Because I don't want to, you know,’ he said with a long pause, looking at the floor.

‘Don't worry, I wouldn't have invited them if I didn't know they would accept, but…’

Jeongin stopped moving and watched his friend closely, and asked what happened.

‘They will accept, but they need your help.’

‘I hope it's something I can do. Anyway, what are their names?’

‘The first girl is Paulina, and the second, mmm, don't know, Paulina talked with him.’

Jeongin stopped moving any part of his body, hard as stone, while Dilka headed to the door; he showed a panicked expression.

‘Is she…has black hair? Brown skin?’

‘Oh yes, passion cinnamon colour. Ok, she’s not so brown, anyway… so you are friends?’

Jeongin was shaking his hands, and when he saw Dilka notice, he hid their hands.

‘You know what? I think we should find other people, look if you want to be in my team, good, but…’

‘What's the matter?’

‘Foreign people, you know, I'm open-minded, but this is new for me.’

‘Ok, just let me take my backpack I left in the corner.’

Jeongin shook his head in affirmation.

A woman went out from a door, confused and angry; she argued with some kids: “Hey you, be careful with my plants, amores míos, don't you see the video games are ruining your mind, play with real toys or something”.

‘Paulina, they don't understand you, and they didn't even pay attention to you; they are more worried about their social media.’

Jeongin recognized that voice, and he started to think: “Wait a second, Dilka didn't come here with a stupid backpack”.

‘What?! I'm gonna work with this pervert?!’ She expressed disgust with a look of distaste on her face.
