Chapter-10:

More of a pet than a companion.

Argine lies there in the floating ball of water as she rolls her eyes. Meanwhile, Mikoshi and Amayki are talking about what to do with her.

“We have a literal demon, Miko. A DEMON. Are you out of your mind? We can't keep her!“ Amayki yells out, exasperated by Mikoshi's ideas.

Mikoshi groans, and her eyebrows twitch as she makes direct eye contact with Amayki, which makes Amayki flinch.

“Listen. This demon might have information, or we can tame it to be a pet, you know?“

Argine raises an eyebrow and looks Mikoshi up and down. She can very clearly hear the whole conversation.

Amayki grabs Mikoshi's shoulders firmly.

“Are. You. Crazy?! Even back in Draventhyr, demons are a bad omen! Even your brother said so, remember???“

Mikoshi looks down at she grits her teeth, and yells out.

“I KNOW HE SAID SO! But what can we do, Amayki?! We're in a world we know nothing about. We're stuck with 2 animals whom we have no clue what they are-” Revaer and Mivazi straighten up and look away hearing that. “And the only things we have for survival are these staffs! We need this demon. We can get information out of it.“

Amayki frowns, looking at Mikoshi. And turns away.

“I'm warning you, Miko. If that demon does something, you're held responsible.“

Mikoshi rolls her eyes at Amayki, not caring the slightest. She turns back at Argine and narrows her eyes in a threatening gaze.

“So, demon. What's your name?“ She asks, expecting an answer.

Argine scoffs, her arms crossed around her chest.

“And why should I tell you, blobfish? It's not like you can do anything to me.“ 

Mikoshi narrows her eyes and points her staff at Argine.

“Wanna bet on that?“

Argine stares at the staff for a bit and then looks up at Mikoshi again and chuckles, shrugging her hands.

“Alright, alright. Relax. I'll tell my name…” Mikoshi's slightly smiles as Argine says that, thinking she got her. “On one condition~”

Mikoshi and the others pause. Amayki speaks up, glaring daggers at Argine.

“A condition?“ She asks, stern.

Argine grins

“Yes! A condition. I mean, I can't help you if I don't get anything in return.“

Mivazi looks up at Revear, still scared and more anxious now.

Mikoshi grits her teeth slightly as she sighs, still holding up her staff at Argine.

“Fine. What's your condition?“

Argine's grin widens as she narrows her eyes, mischievously. 

“Do you know of the 'Twelve True Deities'?“

Everyone raises their eyebrow at Argine.

Amayki speaks up,

“Well, of course. Their the creators of the entire universe and they made everything. Who wouldn't?“

Argine chuckles as she joking points her finger and her forehead and stick her tongue out.

“Whoops! Well, assuming you know of them… I want you to steal the orb of the first of the twelve true deities. Then I'll agree, that's our condition!“ She smiles and lays back in the floating ball of water.

Everyone stand there, in utter disbelief.

Revear speaks up, his voice slightly stuttering from what he had just heard.

“E-excuse me? Did you just say we have to steal the orb… Of the Panthea?!“

(More about the 'Twelve True Deities' will be explained in future chapters.)

Argine rolls her eyes at the mention of the panthea.

“Yes, yes. Is that so surprising?“ She asks, her voice monotone.

Amayki yells out, in anger and disbelief.

“Of course it is! Stealing something from the twelve true deities, especially the panthea, could just make us be at rest for eternity!“

“Deal.“ A voice speaks up from the arising arguments.

Amayki looks at Mikoshi, stunned. While Mikoshi stands there. 

“I said deal. We'll get you the orb. And you, stay our pet.“

Argine slightly surprised that someone actually agreed, smirks.

“Well, aren't you a feisty one? Very well.“ She easily breaks the floating ball of water with the sword she had summoned. “My name is Argine Tenaser. A knight. I look forward to working with you, Mikoshi Nelika.“

Everyone standing nearby got wet and argine just chuckles. 

Mikoshi groans and wipes her face.

“I look forward to working with you too, I guess.“

But, wait… hold on… how did Argine, someone who just met the group… know of her full name?
