Bayley sighed, marching towards the boardroom. She froze, Meredith stood outside the doors talking to a woman.
“Shit,” Bayley whimpered, turning to bolt only to run right into Alpha Vanessa.
“Going somewhere?” Vanessa smiled wolfishly.
“Alpha Vanessa- it's been a while, good to see you!” Bayley choked.
“Mm, Mer! I hear you two have already met…several times,” Vanessa said to an approaching Meredith who didn't seem too happy.
“Vanessa-”
“I'm just making small talk,” Vanessa said, raising her hand defensively.
“Well stop,” Meredith growled through clenched teeth. Gently grasping the alpha’s arm.
“It's okay, I deserve it,” Bayley sighed, stuffing her hands into her pockets.
“No, you don't. It was an accident. You've apologized.”Meredith smiled at Bayley, turning back to Vanessa. “Let. It. Go.”
“Everything okay?” Alex smiled, saddling up to Vanessa. Curling an arm around her mate.
“Fine!” Vanessa, Meredith, and Bayley all said in unison earning a skeptical look from the Beta.
“Right…”

“Thank you all for meeting me here,” Bayley smiled, “I'm sorry we had to meet under these circumstances but it is wonderful to meet you all.” a round of agreeing grumbles rang out before Bayley continued, “So, as we all know there have been sightings of unknown, possibly, rogue wolves. There have been a few incidents with animals being killed or disappearing and a couple break in’s at the town vet-”
“What was taken?” Alex frowned.
“Uh…some bandages, antiseptics, gauze, and cotton balls-”
“And the animals?”
Bayley frowned, “cows.”
Alex nodded, slumping back in her chair. “What’s wrong?” Vanessa whispered.
“Nothing.”
“If you have an idea of who this is…”
“No, it's probably not him,” Alex shook her head, “He’s long gone.”
“Who?” all five alphas asked.
Alex grimaced, “Alex, who?” Vanessa pushed.
Alex shook her head again, “You said there were sightings?” she asked, turning toward Bayley.
“Yes.”
“Was it a man?”
“Yes…”
“A beta?”
“Yeah,” Bayley frowned, “How’d you-”
“Dusty blond hair, green eyes, shit-eating grin?”
“Uh-”
“Yup,” Emmanuel smiled rolling his eyes, “the dude stared me down like this was his territory-”
“And could kick your ass for questioning it?” Alex asked grabbing her forehead.
“Yes!” Emmanuel pointed excitedly, “but the dude never got within an inch of me, dude looked like he couldn't take down a squirrel!”
“Sean,” Alex sighed.
“Who?” Vanessa frowned.
“Sean, he was the beta of my old pack before…he was banished along with my old alpha. He stood by him for the entire trial, tried to downplay everything…he was Vincent’s minion. He’s probably here for me,” Alex growled, standing.
“Where are you going?” Vanessa asked blocking Alex from leaving.
“To talk to him, scare him off,” Alex waved, “He couldn't fight a flimsy tree, it's fine.” Alex stepped around Vanessa, the alpha grabbed her forearm.
“No.”
“Vanessa.”
“Your not going alone, i’m going with you-”
“Vanessa-”
“No offense, beta Alex but if he is apart of what happened to you I don't feel comfortable letting you go alone,” Bayley pressed, saddling up to Vanessa’s side.
Alex rolled her eyes, “Fine, but he’s just a weasel. Nothing to worry about,” she shrugged.
“We’ll be going too,” Warrock stood, Milo and Jason following.
“Manny, stay back, take care of the station.”
“Yes ma’am,” Emmanuel nodded with a smile, standing taller.
*******
“Where was he last spotted?” Alex asked stalking towards the road out of town.
“The cafe,” Bayley pointed towards the business district.
“What was he doing?” Alex mumbled, turning towards the cafe.
“Just…staring, he never bought anything or talked to anyone he just sat in the corner staring. He was making the employees and customers feel uncomfortable so they called to have him removed-”
“Cheif Bayley!” a young woman wearing an apron waved, a relieved smile on her face.
“Amanda? What’s wrong?” Bayley asked jogging over to the woman.
“He’s back-” before the woman could finish Alex gently pushed past them and into the cafe. Before anyone could do anything the customers rushed out and Alex had approached the man.
“Sean.” Alex greeted gruffly, plopping down in the seat across from the man.
“Beta Alex, what a wonderful surprise,” Sean smiled, his grin taking up half of his face, his teeth glistening in the light.
“What are you doing here?”
“What do you mean?” he asked leaning forward, “This is a free country, isn't it?”
“You know what I mean.”
Sean nodded, “I do,” he paused watching as the five alphas and Bayley stepped into the cafe. “Five alphas, i’ve never seen so many in one place, outside of gathering or…wait! Is this all for me?! I'm honored!”
“Cut the shit, what are you doing here?” Alex spoke coldly, warning.
“Sorry,” Sean nodded in acknowledgment, “You see I have no pack, thanks to you.” he paused to shoot an accusing glare towards Alex. “And there was no pack with “room”” he rolled his eyes, “we both know what that mean.”
“They know your an enabler who not only stands by and watches abuse but helps enforce it.”
“No,” Sean said sharply, “They think I helped my alpha abuse a fellow beta, our pack, his power as the alpha,” Sean growled leaning over the table.
Alex raised her hand stopping Vanessa before she could get her hands on the man, “And you just so happened to pick this land to settle on.”
“What can I say, it's a beautiful town you have here,” Sean grinned, dropping back into his seat.
Alex sighed, “Look, I can't prove that you have a person inside the board who told you where I was. I can't prove that you came here to cause me trouble or enact your revenge or whatever. I can't prove that you killed those animals or broke into the vet clinic.” Alex stood, casting a shadow on Sean, “And I can't prove that you were there that night, that you took your shot at me, and I beat your ass.”
