‘What the fuck did you say?’ Anna ranted, then stood up.
‘Ahh…? What are you angry about?’ asked Lâm.
‘No, no, there is no need to fight,’ Jeongin said, then turned on the TV.
Everyone was looking at Lâm, but he was so confused, looking into the void, and ignoring everything around him.
‘You know what I´ve been living for? What I´ve passed? And you say that fucking word’.
‘I thought she was a whore, so why is she… oh, yes, I remember,’ Rowan wondered in his mind.
‘I´m so sorry, I don’t remember very well, I just… aaggh—’
‘Listen, Anna, I know it’s hard, but I can assure you he’s not like that. I don’t know what is happening either.’ Said Paulina when she noticed Anna was coming closer.
‘Look! That’s you, or at least what we… just look!’ called Jeongin, pointing at the TV.
‘Hey! That’s true, babes,’ spoke Dilka.
They watched the TV and heard the news, a man who was explaining a recent destruction in one district.
‘People say they didn’t hear anything, but it’s hard to believe. What we suggest is they have been manipulated to remain in silene by Vũ, a person from Vinh co dai who controls an important web of drugs. Furthermore, we found some locals from Vinh co dai who informed us what they have suffered; many of them were captured, with the promise to stand here.’ Acknowledged the journalist.
‘By the way, now I’m not drunk, I wonder why you didn’t want to cross around cops, are you…’
‘Stop saying that shit, Jeongin. It was because of them and my friend; they don’t care if we save them, they shall know we make trouble for their people’.
‘People? Ohh! The cops want to protect criminals as normal people, gotcha’.
‘Why is he so innocent?’ requested Dilka.
Two hours later.
The boys have already taken their outfits off.
‘Listen guys, I don’t know how to express this, but… I owed my soul… anything you need, please ask’.
‘Don’t worry, Anna, we would give you our lives if it’s necessary’
‘Ehm… talk to yourself, but see ya,’ remarked Rowan.
‘Hope to see you again, darling!’ laughed Dilka.
‘Don’t forget what you’ve done; you will survive, girl,’ added Paulina.
They left and continued walking in the streets; it was around 3 pm, full of people, some in normal clothing, others with light jackets, and others a mix between the present and future. The sky was like sand, due to the contamination and other resources. There was a big skyscraper with long slats hanging around it.
‘One day, I’d like to go there’.
‘Why there? Mate,’ begged Jeongin to Lâm.
‘It seems wonderful, and I’d like to see the landscapes; standing over there, alone, like a king, would be nice.’
‘Being there, with some nice stubbies, and mates to share,’ marveled Rowan.
‘You mean, the wonderful AI who can… assist you manually, isn´t it?’ giggled Dilka.
Everyone laughed in the group, except Lâm, who was confused, but he was cheering.
‘By the way, Lâm, where did you get your prosthesis? You look so different and cool,’ said Paulina.
‘Yes, I really want to get something like that, but I know it's expensive, well… kinda,’ asked Jeongin, pointing to his prosthesis arms.
‘Me? Come on, I would like to have the same toys as you have, and these… I don’t really remember it.’
‘Ohh, thanks Lâm’.
‘You don’t remember even that? What happened?’ inquired Paulina.
‘Leave him alone; he was drugged,’ commanded Rowan.
Lâm aimed with his fingers at Rowan; when they crossed a building, Lâm was watching his body closely in the mirror, as if it were another person.
‘Yes, know I remember! You didn’t even have these abs!’
Lâm was remembering his past, a past who didn’t want to look behind, he coldn’t control it, and he saw he was himself in a patient stretcher, his body wasn’t able to move, he was conducted in the darkness by someone, and his last memory, was a naked or synthetic woman with a big halo around her body, and some limbs around it, over the table.
‘Are you ok?’ Dilka chimed, touching his shoulders.
‘I…hole… yeah, I think I need to see my doctor, see ya’
‘Hey, where you going? Don’t mess with drugs again, asshole, ’ Paulina demanded. ' At least say fucking thanks, pendejo,’ pondered Paulina.
The guys were walking until they saw a giant shark hologram. Jeongin was so amused that he said, ‘I need to create something like that,’ and Dilka also recommended that he use drones and other gadgets, but Jeongin argued he can’t do that now, due to the money.
‘So, what now?’ Dilka rejoiced.
‘Now? We’re gonna rest, and in some days we plan how to free me,’ Rowan added.
‘Yes, but need to find a royal suite, or Jeongin will make us leave our houses to find a better place, like Anna’s house’.
‘What, did you tell them?’ requested Jeongin of Dilka, pointing to Paulina with his hands.
‘Well… they asked me why we left Anna’s house, after she said we might stay longer, so I told them…’
‘You’re a really nice… superficial person, Jeongin, nice try being a sarpionist.’ Paulina yelled.
Three days later.
The group meeting was in Dilka’s house, on the first floor in the building, and moving flats. Her house was small, but enough for them.
Dilka was preparing some drinks for everyone, and Paulina was standing in front of the TV.
I wonder why Dilka is doing that? I mean, he’s acting like we’re a kind of family or real groups; I’m confused about this. It was great fun and incredible that day, but… all the things I’ve seen, and they did, were… not what I was expecting. I think I need a real team, nice people, but for now, I need to deal with them. They’re really nice, but… no, I can’t think in that way.
I think it could be a little mean if I abandon them, but if I stay with them… I may be in trouble with my country.
‘Hey Jeongin, have you seen this woman? Is it true your country still has some problems with the other mentioned? She was really talking about crime wars’
‘Oh, for sure! I forgot about that,’ answered Jeongin, shaking his head.
The group was surprised when the news was mentioned again: a strange group who deal with the mafia; they couldn’t show pictures; the reporter mentioned only their outfits and colors, but Jeongin was still in his mind.
‘So, Rowan, tell us about this man,’ said Paulina.
‘To be honest, not much about him. I was serving someone else, but… recently he didn’t stop to warn me.’
‘For what exactly…?’
Jeongin was looking at Rowan so closely, and trying to guess his intentions.
‘You know, just… money, but it’s ok’.
‘Oh, ok, for me it’s ok, at least Jeon—’
‘Why did you owe them money, Rowan?’
Rowan was relaxing, putting his foot on the table, and resting his back on the chair. ‘Just drugs, ok? Can you stop blaming me?’
‘I’m not blaming you, I just… damn! Why did you—’
‘Jeongin!’ Dilka Shouted, and Rowan nodded to her.
‘Ok.’ Jeongin took a long breath, seeing the roof, ‘ and what are you planning to do? If you find this man…’
Paulina was smiling and raising their eyebrows.
‘I… you know, letting him know, I’m done with that shit, I changed, and thanks for the messiahs, Jeongin, ’ he explained and smiled.
‘Amen!’ Paulina belted, and Dilka was laughing with her.
‘Listen guys, I’m gonna tell you something, in these three days I’ve been thinking about that, about what we do, what I did, to be precise. I don’t like this, you know, killing people.’
‘Jeongin, I’ve already told you, these people are not good; they hurt others,’ spoke Dilka.
‘Absolutely, you want me to remind you what they did to her? Come on, Jeongin, we’re together in this.’ Rowan ordered.
‘He’s right, little boy, and if you don’t know, the people who you want to become, they kill all the time, Jeongin, sorry, but you’re just a chick in this jungle, and if you don’t know how it works, they gonna smash you, there are even worse sarpionist, who take advantage of their powers.’ Paulina dictated.
‘And that’s the reason I want to try something else, to change that’.
‘It’s impossible. I hope one day you’ll understand, my friend,’ Dilka gulped.
‘Ok, just forget it, and we'll see each other over there. I’ll send you the location later,’ Rowan said.
One day later.
Rowan already sent the updated location to each one, so they were a little bit far from the current city, Haean Miro. A city which is a coastal maze of estuaries. Even if the city is kind of big, it has that name because of the main attraction of a labyrinth.
The main location was in the forest; Rowan explained they hide in the middle of nothing, where even the police ignore putting a footprint there. The main plan was to send Jeongin, with his suit, and speak with them, trying to get a deal.
