Roby managed to repair Escalate with spare parts he had in the back of the sleigh, but due to Escalate analyzing everything that Roby repaired for him, I fear that he might be regretting it.
“It never exploded on me, so there shouldn’t be anything to worry about >:(,” Roby stated.
“It is possibly due to years’ worth of poor management amongst your body, your mechanical functions are operable in managing such ineffective gear.” Escalate stated while staring at the battery. “But if there are no other options in t-minus 33 hours, 22 minutes, and 29 seconds, I will insert it into my body.”
Roby froze for a moment, then looked at Sebrisha who was sitting in the front seat of the sleigh. “I'm about to disassemble your friend here :|.”
“Please don’t, he was expensive,” Sebrisha said while fiddling with the wheel of the sleigh. “So you guys built this thing?”
“We found it and modified it.” I answered. “Well, Roby did most of the modifying.” I quickly added.
“Just about to say, who is this we >:1?” Roby typed as he hopped out of the sleigh. “But enough of the small talk, How are we planning to get out of here? Are we going to attempt to climb out?”
“Hopefully not. That would mean we would have to leave the sleigh here,” I sighed while looking up at the giant hole.
“Can’t you carry it up,” Roby looked at me already knowing my answer. I grunted in response to that stupid question as I closed the cover that was over the engine.
“Well, I have good news for you guys.” Sebrisha interrupted as she picked her bag up. “I have a way to get us out of here without having to abandon your poor sleigh.”
“Really? How?”
Sebrisha then pulled out a giant blue glass bottle that was at least half the size of the bag itself. The glass bottle was attached to a yellow and red-looking stone that, for some reason, gave me a chill down my spine. “With this.”
Escalate looked at the bottle that was placed right beside him and quickly scooted over. “It is ill advised to mix such components in a 400 meter radius.”
“Oh calm down. The death radius of this thing is only 100 meters.” Sebrisha smacked her teeth.
“Calculated injury radius is 422 meters.”
“This place is barely 450 meters long,” I pointed out.
“Whelp, just big enough.” Sebrisha said while smacking the big glass bottle, which made my heart jump. “But anyways, I did my research on this area before I got here, and it shows that there should be a giant mine cave on the far side of that wall.” She pointed behind me. “And based off how there are scratch marks on it, you two already knew that.”
“We knew there was something behind there, but certainly not a mining cave,” Roby stated while examining the blue bottle with the stone attached to it. “But even so, do you at least have a timer on this thing, or will one of us have to be a sacrifice?”
“We don’t have to worry about that, just know that once these components mix, it will take about 1 minute for there to be an actual explosion.” Sebrisha shrugged as she picked up the bottle and stone. “But yeah, I’m not the one who’s lighting this, so you three have to decide amongst y’all selves.”
“Mechanical parts are worn and poorly engineered, which gives me a 15 percent chance to make it out of the critical blast radius.” Escalate announced a little too quickly.
“You didn’t even try to walk yet >:[,” Roby stated as he quickly turned towards me. “But I’m not it, I doubt I’ll be able to clear 400 meters on these wheels.”
I smacked my teeth as I stared at the large bottle for a moment, then I carefully grabbed it. “Alright, what am I supposed to do?”
Sebrisha hopped off the Sleigh, then pointed at the wall with scratches on it. “All you got to do is throw the bottle at the wall, the liquid and stone will cause a slow reaction that will give you a minute to run for it.” She gave me a thumbs up. “And possibly enjoy the fireworks if you’re fast enough.”
I let out one last grunt and proceeded to make my way towards the wall. Once I made it there, I began to remember the attempts me and Roby made to break through this wall, from a pickaxe to multiple small homemade grenades and explosives.
Heh, I even went into that state only to leave these deep scratches in the first place.
I stuck my wooden sword in the ground and placed both hands on the bottle. I then proceeded to throw the bottle as hard as I could against the wall, grabbed my sword, and ran away as fast as I could back to the sleigh. As I ran back as fast as I could, I could feel the trash underneath my feet trying to trip me up due to my unusual pace.
I finally made it back to the sleigh and the first thing I see is Sebrisha and Roby panicking while signaling me to hurry up.
“Hurry up, Pazzo you only have 5 seconds left!!” Sebrisha yelled.
“5…4…3…2-” Roby counted down. I vaulted over the sleigh and fell face first, immediately covering my head and ears.
I covered them for a couple of moments, but for some reason nothing happened. I continued to hold my head down for a while, until I became curious about whether it exploded while I was down here, and slowly uncovered my head and looked up from the ground.
I turned around to see all Escalate, Roby and Sebrisha all looking at me, while Roby typed “Lol” in the electric cloud.
“What happened?” I asked as I slowly stood up.
“You didn’t have 5 seconds left, you just ran over here a lot faster than what we were expecting, so we just decided to mess with you,” Sebrisha snickered. I smacked my teeth in response. “You actually hav-”
Before she could even finish, the explosion went off, and the shock wave knocked Sebrisha and Roby back, and both of them landed face-first in the nearest trash hill.
I let out an amused huff as I waited for the explosion to settle and the trash to fly our way. After everything settled, I slowly peaked over the sleigh and was met with a giant hole in the wall that was much larger than I expected it to be.
I pulled on the black gloves on my hands to make sure they were good and tight one last time before I turned around to make the announcement. “It worked.”
Sebrisha slowly brought her head from the trash and gave me an annoyed look that I could see even through the mask. “I could tell.”
“WARNING WARNING!!” Roby announced, which made me jump a little. “Multiple unstable energy readings are steadily approaching.”
I looked at Escalate in confusion and was about to ask what he meant by that, but before I could, something purple began glowing down the massive hole.
“Aye, Y’all might want to come and see this,” I whispered while gripping my wooden sword. Sebrisha slowly stood up, looked over the sleigh, and I could just hear her heart drop.
“Cyberheads,” Sebrisha whispered as she slowly reached into her bag. Cyberhusks are basically undead cyberaddicts who overused the cybernetics in their bodies and died because of them. An easily treatable condition, but I guess people value their power over their lives.
I let out an irritated sigh as I walked around the sleigh with my sword already at the ready. “Stay here, I got this.”
“2 extremely high energy readings are approaching,” Escalate announced. And with that, 2 robots entered through the hole, and just based off how they looked, I could tell they were bad news.
