Eden's Armageddon: The legion

Chapter 5 Nigiel Keth

Chapter 5 Nigiel Keth

Oct 09, 2026

“Well, that was weird,” Cleaner said as we both looked up. I looked back down at the scythe that mysteriously fell from the sky right next to the sword I dropped, and before I could even react, my sword out of nowhere turned to dust.

The dust then floated in the air for a couple of seconds, then went towards the scythe’s handle and then disappeared, as if the scythe absorbed it or something.

I slowly made my way toward the scythe while examining it.

“Um, hey,” Cleaner said while backing up. “I know where fighting, but I don’t think it’s safe for you to touch that.”

“Don’t worry, once I’m done touching this thing,” I said while grasping the scythe. “I’ll start touching you next.”

Cleaner took two steps back as his red eye’s began looking me up and down. “What do you mean by that?”

I ignored his question as I began examining the weird weapon. The scythe was rather large even by normal scythe standards, and the black pole of the weapon felt smooth as if it had just been made. The pole of the weapon also had many carvings and symbols on it that were fresh as well, then there is the blade of the scythe. The blade was pitch black, with a strange combination of edges, as if you were supposed to cut and saw with it at the same time.

I grabbed the handle and lifted the weapon surprisingly easily. It didn’t weigh as much as I was expecting, and the pole felt solid in my hands.

“Well, it didn’t blow up,” I sighed simply as I looked at Cleaner. “So that’s good.”

“Eh,” Cleaner sighed as he picked up his club. “In the future, don’t pick up weird items.” He then got himself ready to charge. “Last time I did that, I got hit in the face so hard that I could smell my thoughts and taste my memories.”

I grunted in response, wondering how that would be, and with that we continued fighting.

I quickly turned my back toward him, which bores the coffin I named Rajeet. I tapped the coffin and shouted the command. “Rajeet’s chains!”

The coffin immediately opened, and out came multiple black chains, speeding toward the shocked Cleaner.

“What the hell?”He barely got out as the chains wrapped around him. As he was held in place by the chains, I swiftly swung the scythe at him as hard as I could, and just like that, I slashed him across his chest before he could escape the chain’s grip.

I looked at Cleaner and let out a relieved sigh as I saw the wound. The slash completely went through the armor, but not enough to damage anything underneath, so there’s no need to worry about his life.

“Wow, this thing is pretty sharp,” I sighed as I examined it. “Sucks that I lost my sword, though.” As soon as I said that, the scythe instantly changed into my wooden sword. The sudden change shocked me so much that I accidentally ended up dropping it, but before I could pick it back up, Cleaner ran up and kneed my jaw.

Hmm, so that’s what memories taste like… I wish it wasn’t the one where I ate that expired bread.

I then woke up with trash in my face and Rajeet still on my back. I slowly got the trash out of my face and was about to get up, but before I could, a green ball was suddenly hit me in the chest and exploded, sending me flying.

I thankfully landed face first on a worn-down mattress. I then quickly tried to get up and dust myself off, but before I could even do that properly, a sharp pain hit me in both my kneecaps.

I looked down and saw 2 green magic arrows in my knees. I purposely fell forward and made my best attempt at rolling down the trash hill, but that action can be pretty rocky when you have a coffin on your back.

I finally made it down the trash hill and immediately looked down to check if the arrows were still in there. Thankfully, the glowing green arrows have disappeared, leaving me with blood-soaked pants.

“Great,” I said to myself as I attempted to stand up. The attempt was wobbly at first, but my healing managed to quickly fix the wound and get me back on my feet.

“Man, you heal fast,” a voice said behind me. I looked back and saw Washer with her staff already glowing in its natural green color. “I've heard of people using magic to heal from lethal to fatal wounds, but even that takes time.”

“And you did tell me that you had a healing factor, so I know it’s got to be something genetic.” Cleaner suddenly appeared on my left with the scythe in hand. He examined the scythe for a few seconds, then proceeded to gently toss it at me as he continued speaking. “And based on how much I hit you in the head, it doesn’t seem as though that skull you got there is a helmet. So now for my main question.” He looked down to check the symbol my grandpa put on him, then brought his gaze back up to me. “What are you?”

I scratched my head as I began to think about my next move.

I could talk and buy time until someone comes here to help, and telling what I am most likely won’t affect anything. Heck, maybe they can tell me something about the outside world if I answer.

I stamped the poll of the scythe into the ground as I gave them the best answer. “I’m a Lycan, part of the werewolf family.” After I gave them that answer, both of them looked at me like I just revealed to them the day the rapture was coming.

“A werewolf, holy shit, you guys are rare!” Washer sputtered in disbelief as she slowly floated down towards me.

“No kidding,” Cleaner scratched his head. “In my 15 years as a mercenary, I’ve only ever seen another werewolf once.” He then twisted his head. “How long have I been one.”

“I don’t know, ever since I was born.” I answered as I began to hear movement coming from the trash hill Washer was just on.

“A NATURAL BORN!” Washer shouted in surprise as she hit the ground.

“Hell, the last one wasn’t even a natural-born.” Cleaner laughed in surprise.

“What was he?” I asked as I backed up a little.

“He was a monk, who turned into a werewolf after being killed by a wolver. But I’ve never seen a natural-born Werewolf before. Most people who gain your affliction turn into wolvers within a week’s time.”

I grunted as I quickly averted my eyes up to the top of the trash hill and saw Sebrisha with a weird grey gauntlet with the 3 blood vials I gave her inserted in the gauntlet like batteries.

Sebrisha sees me, sees her, and quickly signaled to be silent. She then pointed the palm of her gauntlet at Washer and gave me a thumb’s up.

“Well, at least it makes sense on the weird healing,” Cleaner sighed as an electrical spark suddenly erupted from Grandpa’s symbol on his chest. “Ugh, looks like that’s enough talking.”

Washer sighed as she lifted her staff and began getting ready to cast a spell, but before she could, a giant red ball hit her in the back and exploded. The blast sent her flying to left, crashing into an old trash can.

“YEAH! I HOPE THAT HIT SPEED RUSHED YOUR NEXT SOFTWARE UPDATE!!” Sebrisha screamed at her.

“That’s racist,” Cleaner called out.

“I know, I meant it to be!” Sebrisha yelled as she cast another red ball at Cleaner.

Cleaner immediately cloaked himself, and based on how the blast looked, he certainly dodged it.

Not like it matters anyway.

I tapped Rajeet and whispered the command. “Pond of chains.”

The coffin immediately opened, and small chains started spilling out, rapidly creating a giant puddle of small chains. I didn’t have to wait long for there to be a reaction, but I can’t say I wasn’t surprised by how fast it happened.

Once Cleaner stepped on the chains, they quickly wrapped around his leg, stopping him in his tracks.

“Oh, come on! This is cheating!” He yelled as he quickly tried to get the chains from around his foot. But I managed to slash his right leg before he could get loose.

The slash managed to make him take a knee, and I immediately followed up with a rising knee to his face.

Cleaner clumsily swung at me with his club. I dodged his swing and was about to kick him again, but a magic arrow was shot into my shoulder.

I looked to the right and barely managed to dodge another speeding arrow that was aimed at my chest.

“That hurt!” Washer hissed as pieces of her body began to reattach to her like Lego pieces.

I quickly placed Rajeet in front of me to block her incoming magic attacks. Each arrow hit the Coffin with a loud knock, but none of them managed to really damage Rajeet.

Before Washer could change her strategy, Sebrisha hit her with another spell, only this one in the form of a spear, and hit her in her thigh.

Washer hissed as she quickly stabbed her staff into the ground, then quickly took flight toward Sebrisha.

BANG

A sharp pain entered my arm suddenly after the loud bang. I looked to my left and saw Cleaner holding up a pistol, aimed at me.

“Really? A pistol?” I growled as I quickly put Rajeet back on my back.

“Hey, don’t act like this is unfair with that enchanted coffin you’ve got on your back,”Cleaner said. I quickly charged at him and tried to slash his arm, but he quickly dodged my attack, kicked me in the stomach, and shot me 2 times in the chest. “And you still haven’t transformed yet, so you still have a second phase at the ready.”

“You don’t want to see that side of me,”I gritted my teeth and turned, having Rajeet face him. The coffin then burst open, and the chains shot out, attempting to wrap around Cleaner, but he managed to dodge out of the way just in time and shot me in the shoulder.

“And I agree with you.” Cleaner than aimed at me for another shot, but I quickly threw the scythe at him, managing to knock the weapon out of his hand. What I didn’t account for was how strangely aerodynamic the scythe was, because instead of falling to the ground, it continued soaring in the air like a frisbee.

Cleaner quickly recovered and pulled out his club, but before he could even swing, I ran up to him and hit him with a solid drop kick straight to his chest.

Cleaner was sent tumbling back, and before he could catch himself, his heel hit an old buried lamp, causing him to fall on his butt. I quickly got back up to follow up on my assault, but then something fast approaching us suddenly caught my eye.

“All right,” Cleaner growled as he dusted off his metal head and somehow managed to get back hold of his pistol. “You should have followed u-” As soon as he got back up, something big hit him in the back, launching him forward.

That’s when I noticed that the object that hit him in the back wasn’t some random object, but was instead the scythe that I threw at him.

Well… Thank God he was in the way of it.

I ran up to Cleaner and was about to kick him in the head while he was down, but then I noticed he started to make a weird noises and his body began to shake.

I slowly kneeled down to him while still being ready for him to attack. “Hey man, are you ok?” I asked as I slowly grabbed his shoulder and carefully rolled him on his side.

“N-N-N-No,” he barely got out as he slowly reached for his back. “W-W-W-What w-w-was that?”

“It was the scythe, it came back like a boomerang.”I looked as the blade buried deep in his back. “Are you still able to get up?”

“N-N-No, your scythe is cutting off the main power line to my lower b-b-b-body.”

“Oh,” I said as I gently touched the scythe. “Do you need a repair kit, or can you do the exact same thing your girlfriend just did?”

“She’s not my-” He sighed. “Just yank the damn thing out, I’ll deal with the rest.”

“Alright,” I said, while grabbing the scythe with both hands. “I’ll do it on three, you count.”

Cleaner took a deep breath in, then placed his hands on the ground. “Okay… 1-”

As soon as he said that, I immediately pulled the weapon out with one swift motion. I looked down at the opening the scythe created and saw that it was quickly being covered by some type of blue plasma, possibly being the ceiling agent that keeps his circuits from going on the fritz.

“You okay?” I asked while examining him.

Cleaner slowly got up, and I could tell he was mad, despite him not even having a facial expression. “What the hell happened to 3!?”

“2 3.” I said blankly as I rested the scythe on my shoulders. Cleaner didn’t like my little method and responded by grabbing the scruff of my red jacket. I quickly held up my hands and started talking. “Hold on, we don’t have to fight anymore.”

Cleaner looked at me in confusion. “What are you talking about, as long as I still got this symbol on my che-” He looked down at his chest and immediately noticed it.

“The symbol’s gone,” I sighed through my nose, already feeling weak for the amount of effort I put into this day.

Cleaner let go of me and immediately ran his hands over his chest to check if it’s really gone. He then let out a relieved sigh as he brought his attention right back to me. “You said your grandpa did this. What is he?”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“What do you mean by what I mean? What is he? Is he some kind of supreme wizard, a necromancer, a pope? What he put on us seemed way too powerful and controlled for it to come from one person. So what is he? Or at least, what’s his power?” Cleaner asked with his arms crossed.

I looked at him and began wondering about the same thing myself. Most of the time I’ve ever spent with grandpa was training and learning. Very rarely will he ever tell us something about his past, and each time he gives us a tale about it, it opens my eyes that back then grandpa was not a good person in the slightest.

I grunted as I answered his question. “The real question is, what power doesn’t he have.”

Cleaner looked at me with a shocked expression as he was about to ask me another question, but before he could, the sound of Sebrisha and Washer fighting interrupted us.

We looked to the right and saw both Washer and Sebrisha rolling down the trash hill hitting each other with punches and elbows. And even after they stopped rolling, they were trying to kill each other.

Me and Cleaner spent about 30 seconds trying to get them off of each other and a full minute to get them to calm down and listen to our words.

Well, at least it’s over.
