Before the reappearance of the Colossal Titan, or the battle between the Female Titan and the Rouge Titan, Sophie Evergreen had never known of Marco Bodt. Nor had she had any goal other than to survive the war with the titans. She went about her work in the Military Police, sometimes coming face to face with Annie Leonhart, only for her to turn pail as if she had seen a ghost.

It wasn’t until after the battle between titans within the walls, and the discovery of her and her elder sisters shifting powers, that she learned about her comrades late friend who had died months before. As well she learned that she herself, resembled him as though they were siblings.

She learned that he was a kind and noble soldier who died while taking back the Wall Rose, who had wanted to be an MP to serve the king. He had been such a dear friend to them, strong and brave like the rest of them, to where she new if he had lived, he would have chose to fight along side his brothers and sisters in arms. Knowing this, Sophie was brought to tears, because even though they were all scared, the top ten of the 104th class chose to fight back, instead of hide away like she had.

From that point on, Sophie promised Marco she’d be brave and earn her wings, so she could protect his friends in his absence with the power she and small few were given.
