Star Wars: The Old Republic is one of my favorite MMOs. You can read more about it on my blog. I’ve got a huge story about the game (I’ll link on my profile). I loved how they presented 8 different story lines with enough diversity to offer 16 different experiences (light & dark). Some of those encounters change with species too. It’s pretty incredible.
An example is my Sith Inquisitor. I made her a Chiss. She had a rough time because everyone kept calling her a filthy alien (ending with a lot of bodies on the floor). Whereas I had another Sith Inquisitor who was human and never had those encounters. It worked for me in a major way and I've finished every class story in the game (from the vanilla release).
However, once they released Makeb, this diversity faltered. Now, they wrote stories that had to cater to EVERY character. So choices stopped mattering as much--they couldn't be too different because they had to fit all classes like every other MMO.
When Knights of the Fallen Empire was announced, I got pretty excited but I quickly realized 3 things:
1) Every character class still had to fit the overall story so you'd end up being untrue to the character you made eventually.
2) The expansion was made for a Sith Warrior or Jedi Guardian and everyone else got kind of shoe horned in.
3) If you were only interested in the actual story parts, then they were going to feel a little disjointed because they only chat about what's happening in the greater galactic war theater.
I might be a little too into this.
Fi’s view mirrors my own. Fallen Empire needed more meat, to reward us for sticking it out from October to now.
In any event, now's the time to get in if you're curious. One month subscription gets you all 16 chapters. Don't take my word for it, give it a roll yourself and see. You might love it.
Society Case Files: One Shots visits the characters from my other series in their normal lives, hanging out at work, playing video games or catching films.
It's a light hearted view into the character's lives and what they enjoy when they're not saving the world.
