A short story inspired by the night of Kupala - a Slavic celebration of summer solstice.
For all those, who are not familiar with Slavic mythology and traditions:
Kupala Night or Kupala - a Slavic celebration of summer solstice. On Kupala Night unmarried girls floated wreaths of flowers (frequently decorated with candles), in an attempt to find a future husband.
Svarog – Slavic God of sun, fire and blacksmithing.
Vodyanoy or vodnik – a water spirit, the guardian of inland waters, such as lakes, rivers or wells. Vodyanoys usually did not care about people, but if angered, could easily break dams, damage watermills or even drown whole villages.
