out of curiosity I researched if my dad's methods for composting were valid, using maggots. It is- but only if you're using the larvae of the black soldier fly.
now our house and yard is a breeding ground for any type of useless fly, and they get everywhere, and we'll get sick soon, my mom says.
I'm too scared to point out what my dad could have learned from a quick google search.
