I picked up this industrial strengh drain cleaner that has a skull and crossbones on the back, and it still wasn't powerful enough to fix my bathtub. Eek.

An auger usually works better though you still have to deal with the gunk it pulls up (hair and mysterious black ooze usually) though if an auger doesn't work you have to call a plumber because anything else could damage the pipes.
