I think Fanny is reacting out of a mixture of jealousy, anger at his own situation, and protectiveness of Cherry. I mean it does sound like Cherry and Fanny are close. Thomas handled this perfectly, respectful and understanding of where Fanny was coming from. I can only hope and work to have Thomas's self control.
