Try a peppermint. Yes, a peppermint. I don't mean something flavored peppermint. I mean one of those little swirly circle candies you get from restaurants. Specifically the green ones.
I don't remember what made me laugh but I was sucking on one of these things when the pain started. You can smell the mint but don't really know what's happening if you haven't experienced similar in the past. (It was my first nose spewing experience.) Also, because it's a gooey mint candy it doesn't come out fast or anything of the like. You just experience pain, a cold wet minty sensation, and that wonderfully ironically delicious smell as it slooooowly makes its way through your nasal passage until finally, after a minute or so of trying to clear your nose, you finally see a tiny dot of bright green goop on the napkin.
