The grand scale of the world makes one feel very small indeed.
Our human life expectancy nowadays is 70 years or so. To put that in perspective, the earliest known Homo Sapien fossil is 0.25 million years old! And then you realize that the "dinosaur era" actually lasted around 190 million years! Oh, and the Earth is 4,543 millions year old.
The scales are so gargantuan that it's practically impossible to imagine how much longer the universe has existed and will exist beyond our little 70 years of life.
