You sit with something for so long. The people who pass you by all start to appear as additional problems waiting to mount. they all look the same. They all sound the same. I want to smile but they don't give me a reason to. I am..a performance. A cave hidden behind a theater's curtains. They lean back against the wall beside me and they whisper sweet nothings as if somehow their limited attempts do more healing than harm. Don't give me hope.. shh...just...q-quiet..
They'll tell me that they are concerned and care. How just maybe I'm the best friend they got. That I'm a good person and deserve good things. It's lies. They're shadows. They're not real. I can reach beyond every sweet word and intention and make them vanish like wisps.
