Was 2016 really that bad?

Was 2016 really that bad?

In the first segment of Another Window, here is 2016 in a another perspective:

As the New Year’s smoke clears around world and unlucky people lose their fingers, hands and eardrums again to copious usage of illegal fireworks, it is time to reflect on 2016, a contender for “Worst Year Ever!” some would say, especially to the sporting chaps that inhabit the internet. And who wouldn’t agree with that assessment, we lost a lot of great people, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Carrie Fisher, Alan Rickman, David Bowie, Harambe, the US Democratic system….. Even in Politics, things have been a little unpleasant with the Brexit, the surprise election of America’s #1 Clown, the ascension of a thuggish bloodthirsty president in the Philippines which resulted in the death of 6000 people of varying degrees of innocence, and the recent spate of terrorist attacks. Despite all that, I would like to present the argument that 2016 isn’t a bad year such after all.
But why am I suggesting such an unpopular argument? For starters, I would like to present 5 good things that had happened last year: 1.) Remember Ebola, that horrible (and horribly memetic) West African disease? Well it was completely eradicated in West Africa last year. 2.) Measles and Malaria are getting beaten up in the same manner all over the world. 3.) Italy had legalized same sex marriage, making it the last major Western country to do so 4.) World Hunger is at its lowest for years and finally for all the panda lovers out there 5.) Pandas are no longer considered endangered.

If that isn’t enough, then consider this, problems or none, we are still standing, we still have the ability to press on with our lives. You cannot say the same thing with many others who lost their lives or the ability to live properly this year, I am sure that to them and/or their families, 2016 can be legitimately the worst years of their lives. For us however, the fact that humanity can still stand up and face 2017 will renewed vigor alone can lead to the conclusion that 2016 wasn’t so bad a year after all.

A trip through memory lane, the olden days, when Tap was still purely a comic website. Plus Fanart etc.
